Steven Patrick Wilson on SoundBetter

GRAMMY and Dove Award nominated multi-genre producer, mixer, and songwriter. I have credits with artists such as Leeland, Sam Hunt, The Foxies, Matt Maher, Plastik Funk, Alle Farben, Lukr and Nawas. I have been a writer/producer for Capitol CMG and Combustion Music.

I’m Steven Patrick Wilson, a professional producer, mixer and songwriter in pop, rock and alternative music based in Nashville, TN. I’ve also had many songs I’ve produced, mixed and written synced on TV shows, commercials, and promos around the world on networks such as The CW, Freeform, MTV, E! Network, WB, ESPN, Netflix and more.

I became a music producer and mixer because growing up in Kansas, I know what it feels like to wish for an advocate in the music business, which is what brought me to Music City. I don’t believe there is such a thing as a perfect song or mix, but I believe an artist knows when they have achieved their goal and vision for their music. I would love to help you make that a reality by getting every detail of your song and mix to feel amazing.

Please reach out with any questions and I look forward to working with you.

Steve is without a doubt one of the most talented producers and songwriters I have the pleasure of working with. State of the art studio and equipment, and an impeccable ear! Incredibly professional. Highly recommend!

I’ve worked with Steve for many years! I have been a drummer on some of his studio projects over the years. He is a complete pro! I have also done a few full records with Steve as a producer and mixing engineer. Steve has an amazing studio, is super creative, very efficient (fast without sacrificing quality). His work sounds amazing. If you’re looking for someone to work with, you HAVE to look into Steve!

Interview with Steven Patrick Wilson

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: This was a long time ago, and not well known, but I am still very proud of a record I produced called Popularity by Jonezetta.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I do a lot of writing/producing/mixing/composing for music to pitch for Film/TV. I am also currently producing for a band called The Foxies.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: To care about your music/song as if it were my own.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: I think my two favorite moments in music are when a song is written and you get a high knowing it's a great one, and the second is when the production/mix of that song is done and you can't wait to share it with the world knowing it fully represents you.

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Look for someone who will care as much about your music as you do.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: I moved to Nashville to play in a rock band after getting a bachelor's degree in Music Theory/Composition, then interned at Jars Of Clay's studio and learned how to record and produce there while starting to build my own studio. I cut my teeth producing my own music and that led to producing my friends bands and other artists which led to multiple publishing deals and somehow I'm still doing it and still loving it!

  13. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  14. A: I would love to work with Doja Cat, Jimmy Eat World, and Paul McCartney. I would say that is about the range of my tastes.

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: It helps to know the rules before you break them, and it can be really cool to break them. Also, I never shoot down an idea before I hear it.

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: I actually love to edit/mix vocals, and because I believe they are the most important part of a production/mix of a song with lyrics, I think I'm good at featuring them and making them shine.

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: I think I bring the care and attention to detail to every song I work on with the same passion I would if it were my own song that I would stand behind as an artist.

  21. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  22. A: I have a hybrid digital/analog setup running Pro Tools in a room designed for mixing.
