Toured the world, label deal as an artist, session work as a singer and songwriter! My name is Nyk. Based in Los Angeles, Ca. eager and ready to work on your project.
Originally from Shreveport, Louisiana but moved out to LA about 7 years ago. I am classically trained and well versed in many different genres including r&b, pop, country, edm, and hip-hop. Upon releasing my first solo EP, " Retrospect Vol. 1" independently late last year, I found myself signing with an independent record label, REUP Records. I have recently released my first single and music video entitled "Chills" through my new label. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N0FdoZhFPs
I've added a couple tracks to my profile so you can check out some of my recent work. Anything from demo vocals, to songwriting, top- lining, and background vocals I got you. I pride myself on being able to deliver quality clear vocals and I also love getting creative with ad-libs and harmonies. High falsetto, powerful belts, edgy vocal tones, and anything else you might be looking for I can achieve. The prices listed are mostly for demo work only, any work-for-hire inquiries please feel free to inbox me. I offer a quick turn-around, usually 3-5 days max, plus 2 free revisions, a full demo track, and the dry wav vocal files if needed. Communication is key when collaborating and every song is treated as if it was my own so trust me when I say you're in good hands. Looking forward to working with you!

NYK was fantastic to work with. Incredible voice and lyricist, and also showed a ton of creativity in suggesting elements to improve the song. He also kept things super professional and communicated very well throughout the entire project. I would definitely work with him again!

Awesone cooperation... the result was better that I could imagine :-)
It was great working with NYK. His work met my expectation—very high-quality vocal recording, fast response, and easy to communicate. I highly recommended him to new customers.
Another great recorded song by NYK, very professional, and talented. I believe if you need someone to work with on a song, please go to him, definitely worth it.
His voice is charming and he has good manners.
thank you so much
It was an awesome experience working with NYK. I was extremely happy with our finished product. He listened and he sang with so much emotion and passion that he conveyed my lyrics exactly into the story I wanted to deliver. I made the absolute right choice in selecting him to sing my song. He was very kind and patient. He responded quickly, he did everything I asked and offered his expert insight when asked, to make my song even better. I will certainly work with him again in the future.
NYK delivered exactly what we were searching for!
very talent guy! definitely like to work with him again!
Working with NYK was super smooth sailing and satisfying. The song we made together turned out killer and it took little effort on my part as he is really talented and intuitive. Harmonies and adlibs also come naturally for NYK, so if your song needs those nice embellishments, he brings it to the table! Will definitely be working with him again!
NYK delivered absolutely professional.
We’ll definitely come back for more.
Aye this guy may or may not make in the music business just like any of us but in my book he will always be on top of the charts.
Definitely a great artist to work with.
Delivered in one shot and that was the right one.
No revision to ask . Stem quality was also there .
Vocally on our joint he was sounding somewhere between usher and Craig david .
I seriously can't say enough good things about Nyk. He is definitely one of the top collaborators we've ever worked with on SoundBetter. Incredible voice, creative, hard working, etc, etc...His tone is unique and stands out, but is also commercial, modern and competitive. So proud of the work we do together! HIGHLY recommend.
My dude, great job. This brother right here brought something different to this project. He was professional, he was timely, and no ego. People in this industry all feel some type of way if you ask them to do something or go back and do something, he showed none of that. Hopefully in the future we can work together in studio and create. Great person to have on any project.
Interview with NYK
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The song on my profile "Siren", is a track the I wrote with a couple of friends of mine. I've also had the chance to tour China the summer before last as a solo r&b artist in which I was able to be a part of a couple writing session for some upcoming artists in the area.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment I am working on my 1st solo project as an r&b artist
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Joey Diggs. He is one of the premium soundbetter members, a good friend of mine, and was the one that told me about this website.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Either. I'm used to both so I have no real preference but if i absolutely had to chose then I would pick analog.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise great product and to always make sure that they are happy and satisfied with the outcome of the final product.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I like most, is that I get to do what I love, while helping others do what they love, and getting paid at the same time.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Most customers are usually asking about the payment amount which depends on the job. If they ask to have the song completed by a specific date we make sure to set that in the proposal. Some ask for adjustments after I've sent the track back and I adjust things for them no problem. I always like to make sure that the customer is satisfied with the final product.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception about what I do is that this is easy. This takes time, patience, experience , knowledge, dedication, and a love for music.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What exactly is needed? Is there a specific vision for the song? if I am writing lyrics. It usually depends on the job. I like to make sure that I have a very clear vision of what the customer is wanting before getting started.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Just that they be friendly and easy to work with. A clear vision of what the customer is needing is always a big help in finishing the job to the customers liking.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A knife, a lighter, a lamp, some rope, and a gun
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been pursuing music professionally for the past 3 years. I originally moved out to LA for acting.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is R&B pop crossover type music
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Pharell. I just love his creativity and his music production is dope!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Your music will only sound as good as it's recorded so do it well.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I'm open to working on all genres but i have usually worked on pop, r&b, and country tracks.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill would be my voice and also my songwriting.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring an original perspective to a song with my unique vocal tone. No one person sees things alike. I like to tell stories with my lyrics and really make my listener feel what I'm singing about.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process when songwriting starts with coming up with the melody 1st and then going back in and writing the lyrics.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup is simple, yet effective. I record with protools using a scarlett 2i2 processor and a samsun microphone.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
