I'm a singer/songwriter and I've learned through years of experience how to record and produce my own projects. I play keyboards and acoustic guitar. I love making songs feel and sound like records.

I have been a professional songwriter for 40 years with 5 Number Ones and 10 Top Ten hit singles, My songs have been recorded by artists such as Reba McEntire, B.J. Thomas, Peter Cetera, Atlantic Starr, and Kathy Mattea. I was nominated for an ACM Song of the Year. 20 of those years I was a staff writer in Nashville and then in Los Angeles. I've been a home studio owner for much of that time. My musical partner and my wife, Jan Garrett, and I have made nine albums together. I have years of experience working with many great players....sometimes together in a studio...sometime virtually.

One thing I'm excited about is working with songwriters who send me files using my HighTail account. Some send me WAV files....and some of them are working in Garageband. I can open a GB project in Logic and add tracks as needed. I really enjoy making things sound as good as possible.

Over the past 10+ years, I have both written and recorded with JD Martin. He has been the keyboard/piano player, guitar player, backup singer, arranger, mixer, producer, and adviser for my Homemade and Handed Down recording project as well as over 20 additional recordings that will soon become a new compilation project. JD is the consummate professional with a heart of gold and an ear to represent my music in its best light.
