Good client. Very clear on project expectations. Catchy song that I hope to hear on the radio soon!!!
Zee is an amazing Songwriter and Producer!! Working with him has been AWESOME!! He is very attentive and dedicated to making the best tracks for you. He is so far the best producer I have worked it and will continue to work with. I love the way he creates!
I played guitar over a track, got him to put a bassline, drums, effects to it. I may hire him again later on for his songwriting/melody services because I haven't tried those out just yet. But his production and ability to go with the vision and flow of the artist makes me want to use his production services again. He seems very determined and focused all the time. Highly recommend.
Zee is an amazing songwriter and producer! I worked with him on this song co-writing as well as sang on "Rhythm of My Love" (link below) and the song was loved by everybody! He's a passionate and enthusiastic producer and focuses a lot on the needs of the artist, fulfilling the musical vision that they truly want. SONG:

He will even customize the beat so it matches your tone. For this last particular project he helped produce the background soundtrack to my upcoming graphic novel and I was very satisfied. Highly recommend him I will hire him again for future services.

Interview with Zee DeSongwriter
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked on a project called "Rhythm of My Love" by a singer from Vancouver Canada named Loza. This was the first song ever that I used a "method actor" approach to producing. It really created this genuine and truthful dynamic throughout the song and most people have rated the song an average 9.2 out of 10. Check out my reel the song should be included in there. Also, message me if you have any questions I'm more than happy to answer all of them!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on a song for a local Toronto artist named Trisha Antoine. She's looking for a Mary J. Blige and pure r&b soul type of vibe and right now I'm working on a reference track called "Neon Lights" for her. A song about trying to stay friends with your ex.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: If you want an AWESOME mixing/mastering engineer - Cory b4lasers Morrison is your guy. If you like the enthusiasm and my spirit and my positivity, this guy is JUST THAT multiplied by 5. He works hard and does not stop until the client is happy! That is my word and I stand by it!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital because that's what I have. But I'm going to return to analog one day, that warmth of analog is just un-replicable.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise to my client is that I WILL NOT STOP UNTIL YOU ARE SATISFIED OR YOU CAN CANCEL MY ORDER!!! I'm ready to sweat, ready to work, ready to make you as excited as I am to create and build!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The fact that I get to match the mood and brand of my artist. It's almost as though I get to live a different mindset for a day in order to make the best product, sort of like a method actor that will do things throughout the day to get into a certain mood in order to deliver a great performance. I do the same thing-- If it's a love song about heartbreak, I may start a fight with my girlfriend just to get in that zone, or if that's a little too overboard for me that day I might just read up on my past journal entries about heartbreak or talk to a close friend going through a breakup in order to get that authentic emotional trigger to help me compose and produce best.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: "How do we start?" Most of the time customers aren't sure how the process works. I usually refer them to my profile page or tell them to read this interview. Basically, if you decide I'm the producer you wish to work with: 1st: Discuss with you the song and the mood you wish to convey by asking you to tell me the 10 popular song titles that convey that mood 2nd: Explore your previous songs and discuss which direction you'd want to head in. 3rd: I'll even create you 3 different song samples and you can choose the best out of 3. 4th: I will work on the song, while consistently showing you updates. 5th: When you are happy with the song, I will find the best key for the song to be in to best match your vocal quality. 6th: Send the instrumental (tracked out) so that you can record it. 7th: Any revisions are UNLIMITED. All I care about is whether or not YOU are HAPPY with your song.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: My song or beat that I produce for you isn't the Ferrari that will speed you to stardom. Because it is missing FUEL. However, once it has fuel in it, it will take off! That missing "FUEL" is YOU. My beat cannot single handedly help your career take off -- BUT it could be a very huge part of the reason why it takes off. Sometimes clients will love my beats and hooks so much that they assume that's all it takes to have a record take off. My past experiences working in the business side of music (i.e. artist management/booking agent) has helped me realize that even though YES it all begins with a GREAT song and a GREAT product but that's only about 60% of the equation. Promotion and marketing and doing live shows are just as important in determining your success.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: 1) "Do you have any previous work/songs that I can hear?" -- I ask this because it could be something that I could build off of. If the artist has a distinct sound, I can continue to expand on that sound rather than inventing something completely different (unless that is what they're looking for) 2) "Do you know who your target demographic/audience is?" -- I ask this because if I can gauge the crowd that has been into your music in the past, I'll be able to conjure up something that is more likely to be a hit with your audience. 3) "Are there 10 popular songs right now or in the past that you are currently really really enjoying listening to?" -- I ask this because music is a highly psychological and emotional experience. Depending on the song titles they give to me, I'll be able to psychologically and emotionally get myself into that vibe, which will end up with me producing an even stronger product for my clients.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't rush into hiring someone. Keep asking them questions, all the questions, don't be shy. If the producer or songwriter is pushy and forces you to begin work with them asap, then in my opinion they're thinking about them and not you. You want somebody who really wants to see you win, and is not happy unless YOU are happy with the final product. This is why I provide unlimited revisions (you can ask me to make adjustments to the beat as many times as you want) as well as a money-back guarantee if you're dissatisfied with the outcome. Because I really care about your song and your satisfaction at the end of the day. So feel free to ask me one million questions I'm more than happy to answer them :)
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: microphone, logic pro software, Native instruments package, keyboard/piano, and the 5th gear would most likely be my saxophone.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: 2005 - I started producing at age 15 (I'm 27 years old now) 2009-2010 I worked as a recording engineer for the music faculty's recording studio for the University of British Columbia 2011-2012 I Interned at a music management company Live Vision Macro Management here in Vancouver, 2012 to 2013 I produced and wrote for local vocal students in 2015 I started my own production company to produce for people. 2015-Present I produce and songwrite for artists all over the the USA and Canada
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: The Abstract answer is that I am mood-accurate. Kanye West vibes with Weeknd melodies
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Pharrell Williams. There are layers to the way he does things. Just from studying his music and being attentive to all of his interviews, you can just observe how detail-oriented he is. This man pays attention to the mood of the artist at the time, pays attention to the timbre of their voice (voice texture) and finds instruments to match that. It's really astounding how much I have learnt from him as a producer AND an artist so I feel that I could only learn way more if I was blessed enough with the opportunity to work with him.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't over think. And don't be lazy when you hear that something is off. FIX IT RIGHT AWAY! Otherwise your ears are going to get used to that flaw in the beat/song and nope we do not want that we want to exceed all expectations here.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: R&B, Hip Hop, Dancehall and Afrobeat. I'll only make pop music if it was Urban music-influenced pop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My most powerful strength is catchiness. This is something that many other people have told me. I believe that if you are a new artist, a new singer, a new rapper, people are going to make a decision on whether they like you in the first 30 seconds. I aim for this everytime because 90% of my clients are new artists or at least artists that haven't broken on the mainstream yet. My goal is to ensure they do. I want to make a song for their listeners that is so addictive that the listeners can't help but want and crave more.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Unlimited dedication and non-stop sweating to produce you the ultimate hit that my client can walk away with and be proud of. I also aim to 100% duplicate the energy and vibe and brand of my client because I want them to almost feel that even though I'm the producer, I want them to feel that the song was ALL them. And that not even the slightest split second felt as though it didn't match their brand and standards and expectations.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: 1st: Discuss with you the song and the mood you wish to convey 2nd: Explore your previous songs and discuss which direction you'd want to head in.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have an imac computer that has Logic Pro X (producing software) in it, along with add-ons like Native Instruments (Massive and Absynth) as well as Kontakt and Omnisphere. I also have 2 yorkville monitor speakers, an Axiom 48 Keyboard, and a Rhode k2 phantom powered microphone. Some clients love seeing videos and pictures of me producing with my equipment, let me know if you want me to link you! Message me!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Pharrell Williams is my number one idol, followed by producers such as Justice League, Chuck Inglish, Sounwave (Kendrick Lamar's producer), and songwriting styles like partynextdoor, the Weeknd, and Frank Ocean.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I produce songs and the songwriting service along with my production is complimentary. So the beat will be custom made for you, and then the lyrics and melody(top line) will also be written for you. It's up to my clients what melodies or what choruses or what hooks and bridges they wish to keep.
