Dr. Congcong Bi is an Atlanta based professional cellist providing live music for corporate events, weddings, private occasions, and public performances. She offers both traditional acoustic cello and playing with backing tracks.
Bi entered the Xinghai Conservatory at age 13 and earned a spot at the ArtEZ Conservatorium in the Netherlands at 17 with the school's highest scholarship. After completing her Bachelor’s degree, she moved to the United States to earn her Master’s degree from Lee University and her doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi. She won the 2018 Lee University Concerto Competition and represented Mississippi at the division level of the 2020 MTNA competition. Alongside performing, Dr. Bi teaches at the University of North Georgia and Gwinnett Technical College, with research published in the International Journal of Computer Mathematics and presented in the United States and Würzburg, Germany.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: High quality recordings, expressive playing, and a personal touch in every project.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love how the cello can add something special to a song and make it moving.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: what they want the cello to sound like, and any reference tracks they have in mind. I also ask about the timeline and recording requirements.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started playing the cello at age five and have spent years studying and performing across China, the Netherlands, and the United States. I hold a bachelor's, master's, and doctorate in cello performance and pedagogy. I’ve performed in a variety of settings and worked with composers and musicians on different projects. Music has been a part of my life for over 25 years, I continue to explore new ways to bring the cello into different styles of music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Bringing emotion and character to music through my playing. I can adapt my playing to different styles while keeping the cello natural.

Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by learning about the project and what the client is looking for. Then I work on the music, paying attention to tone and style, before recording and delivering the final tracks. I’m happy to make adjustments to get the sound right.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I record cello parts for artists, composers, and music producers, from classical pieces to pop songs, film scores, and original music. Each recording is tailored to the project.
