It was great to work with you when we were in College in Dublin, Ireland. You were totally at home behind the desk in the studio and your knowledge of music helped the musicians achieve the best with their music. It was a lot of fun and totally professional. Wishing you the very best now and the days ahead. Declan

Martin has a large experience in creating and managing production processes. We have worked together for a few years and my project could have its own identification because of Martin´s touch. I totally recommend working with him!

Interview with Martin Tripss

  1. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  2. A: I'm very open to sound styles and genres, I don't picture music as something made of barriers; So if sound good to me I will be working in it.

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: The big goal is to not lose sight of the big picture

  5. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  6. A: I did mostly Rap, trip hop, indie rock, Brazilian jazz and Samba

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: To understand the artist vision and to add my creative experience to it.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: A highly creative process through experimentation and pre-production, a comprehensive approach to working with the client and technical quality from a "sound" point of view and "music" point of view.

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: Usually I have a chat with the artist about their vision of the song and little details about it, after that we work the structure, harmony, instruments and their sounds. I lay down the work, and we check together and I hope for feedback, after that we continue until the producing part is completed (checkpoint), we do editing (check point), mix (checkpoint), master (checkpoint).

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: The most important setup is the room, which is almost perfectly balanced. Completely treated, following resonances and the balance of frequency bands. My computer it's a Mac Pro, my monitors are KRK's Rokits G4 and I record through a Focusrite 4i4. I have an Takamine GD10 NS (acoustic guitar), Takamine GC3CE (classical guitar), a Epiphone Casino 2020, a Fender Stratocaster and a Boss Katana 50 Amp.

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: Rick Rubin is a milestone, because of the empathy he can bring to his work and his capacity to put out the best of the artists that work with him. In Brazil, Daniel Ganjaman, BiD and Buguinha Dub are, all three, big inspirations for their work bringing new sounds consistently to our nacional scene.

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: I usually receive a song from the composition phase and after a conversation about it we build the idea in pre-production, we produce it and after that I mix and master the song. But I'm completely open to start anywhere.
