Endorse Jakob HautInterview with Jakob Haut
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I´m currently setting up my production alias "ynotmore" where I sell instrumentals. Of course, making new music for my artist project "JAS1X" is always on my to-do list but I also recently started to prepare tracks for an upcoming artist project of mine.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I´d say digital. Wait I´m explaining why trust me :) So in the last years, I haven't had the chance to really incorporate analog equipment into my workflow. I'll probably change my mind in the future though.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Laptop, an electric guitar, the Apollo, a mic, and cables :)
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I really enjoy the productions of Ben Böhmer. In almost all of his tracks, there are so many little details that really tell a whole story. Others would be &ME or Rampa. I love how their productions can be 7+ mins long and still don't get boring.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't get lost in the theory of music. If a chord sounds good but doesn't fit in a scale still use it. Music isn't something to be explained but rather felt.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on various different styles in the house genre, such as deep/organic/melodic house or tech and bass house.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: One of my good friends told me once that I have a special ear for little details and small sound design elements that make a song really interesting. And that is what Id say too. I enjoy getting the most out of songs in the small elements that don't seem that crazy or necessary but bring life to a production!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work on a Macbook Pro (i9/32gb/2tb). My monitors are the Yamaha HS8 connected to the Apollo Solo. I mostly work "in the box" so there's no need for outboard gear yet.
