Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: A mix of exciting projects, mostly focused on production and mix, with some smaller projects of songwriting! I'm usually happiest when I'm moving between different roles because each one feeds into how I approach the others.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Mostly digital for the flexibility and speed, but I’ll use anything that serves the song. The result matters more to me than the format.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: That I'll take their music seriously, communicate clearly and put the same level of thought into their song that I would want someone to put into mine. I want the client to feel that I understood what they were trying to make, not that I simply imposed my own style on it.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: Finding the one idea or decision that suddenly makes the whole song click.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: Usually whether I can get close to a reference while still keeping the song original. Yes, references help define the direction without having to copy the record.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: That production is mainly about adding sounds. A huge part of producing is deciding what not to add, what should disappear, where the energy should change and what the listener's attention should be focused on at each point in the song.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: What do you already love about the song? What feels missing? What are the key references, and where do you want the track to sit stylistically?

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Choose someone whose taste matches your direction, but also someone who really understands your references, goals and priorities.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: My laptop with Logic, a MIDI keyboard, my Gibson SG, Boss RE-202 Space Echo and an SM7. Although finding electricity on the island might be the bigger problem.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Detailed, intentional and arrangement-focused. I like productions that have character and personality but still feel clear, emotionally effective and focused on the song rather than the production itself.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Without a doubt, Radiohead. I love how their production becomes part of the composition and arrangement rather than simply decorating the song.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Train your ears before buying more tools. If you can clearly hear what is missing or wrong, finding the solution becomes much easier.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Mostly indie pop, indie rock, alternative, pop, singer-songwriter and rock, often combining live instrumentation with modern production.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: Understanding what a song needs stylistically and translating that into practical production decisions. I’m very conscious of genre, references, arrangement and audience, while still making sure the result feels individual to the artist rather than like a copy of something else.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: Focus and intention. I like production decisions to have a reason behind them, whether that is supporting a lyric, creating contrast, strengthening an arrangement or helping a track connect with its intended audience. I experiment a lot, but I don't like adding things simply because I can.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: First I understand the song, references and what the artist feels is missing. Then I build or refine the track, share progress and keep adjusting until the direction feels right.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I work mainly in the box using Logic Pro and Pro Tools, alongside guitars, pedals and software instruments. I care much more about making the right decisions than having the biggest gear list.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: I’m inspired by a wide range of indie, alternative, pop and rock music. Producers like Nigel Godrich, George Daniel and James Ford are big references for how they use production as part of the arrangement.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: I start by understanding the artist’s vision and references, then develop ideas and share progress early to make sure we’re aligned. From there, it’s all about communication and getting the song to a place they’re genuinely excited about.
