What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
Can you make a sound like this?
... I go, listen to the youtube or Soundcloud link and answer: Yea, we can do this.
What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
15+ years and counting...
How would you describe your style?
I hardly believe I have one specific style
but I do have a vibe... Open, musical and Soulful
What type of music do you usually work on?
Dance Music, Soul and R&B.
What's your strongest skill?
I believe is the integrated vision of things and special set of combined skills that can bring forth a really special and unique sound from its conception (music performance) to its development (audio processing/mixing) all the way to the final product.
What do you bring to a song?
That could be break down into 4 elements:
1) Experience (Always making music myself, so I get to learn and improve all my route of action)
2) Passion (I am really commited to make the best out of everything I get into)
3) Workflow ( I have a precise set of tools that include human and equipment resources that I use to the maximum of my capabilities to bring forth work without excuses in a given timeframe)
4) Personality ( As much as I can sucesfully emulate, sounds, vibes and more due to the degree of my expertise I like to believe I have my own sound and that's something I believe brings a lot to the table and my clients benefit from it)
What's your typical work process?
The first thing to do is listen to whatever is on the table. Observe it for what it is and then dive in the the posibilities. I believe there is always room for improvement and I am a constant student of my craft both in terms of musicality and also in terms of sound.
After listening with the client, I make an assessment of what I could bring to the table, taking in high consideration its own vision and direction. I put all my resources at disposal, whereas being a multi-instrumentalist, beatmaker, drum programmer, audio engineer both for mix and mastering, its all there for the me and the client to trace a route of action in order to get the sound and vision that is being requested.
Tell us about your studio setup.
Basically I work on a mac based setup. The chain consists of a Apollo Audio Interface + UAD Octo DSP processor + several great UAD plugins like ATR Mastering tape, Neve 88rs, SSL plus others I keep adquiring as I expand my collection. Recently I added Softube Console 1 + SSL 4000 emulation to my chain and it has really helped me streamline work faster with superior quality sonically. Now on the musical instruments side of things I have a vast array of colors I love to use in the form of samplers, digital and analog synths, drum machines and other real live instruments like a bass, guitar and afro caribbean percussions.
I monitor everything thru Neumann KH 120 speakers
