Interview with Camilo Zea

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: After years of being a musician and playing in bands I was able to keep a lot of those connections. I still work with some of those artists in a variety of styles, mostly singer-songwriter, indie pop, folk, rock, urban and latin music.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: I get to do what I love every day. Working on music does not really feel like a job, it's more of a lifestyle. I get a lot of satisfaction from seeing a happy client. My goal is to help you make your music the best it can be.

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: What is the goal of the mix/master? what is the vision for the song? Are there any references or sounds you'd like to achieve?

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: I strive to get the emotion to be as transparent as possible. Songs are about emotions and helping the artist evoke the right feeling on an audience is key. I achieve this by connecting with the song first, then finding the right balance of processing that will get us as close to the artist's vision as possible.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: Inspired by Josh Gudwin, Mike Fuller, Leslie Brathwaite, Colin Leonard.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I specialize in Mixing and Mastering.
