Interview with CASS
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: As a rap artist I have credits on '50 Cent's' companies mix-tape alongside 'Young Thug' that was really cool and have an album out with a triple 'Grammy Winner' called 'RoadMap's'. All achieved with a Coffee a vision and a laptop.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop Some beats My mobile Sound Recorder Headphones
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been writing for over 25 years
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Fluid thoughtful dynamic
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Hmmh to many to list but females include Alicia Key's, Beyonce, Tina Turner, Anita Baker and Kelly Clarkson Skunk Anansie, Melissa Etheridge and (Tori- Amos)
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Well i'm not a producer so I guess I would say know your craft the work is never done keep on learning your skill set ask other's for their advice and take what's useful on board.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I appreciate and love many styles of music they all have their unique language you just need to listen
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Being able to pick out a Top-line melody in a short space of time maybe 20 mins or less other song's require more time.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring emotion clarity purpose and intent
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I listen and listen and listen again to the track- I do believe the track should be able to speak to you it's not really a tangible feeling but a creative process with a skill set as a framework,
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I don't require much my laptop a beat or a brief and myself.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Rhianna and Paramore and legends like Stevie Wonder, Prince and Brian McKnight. Rappers include Rae Sremmurd and Nikki Minaj.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Top lining beats and all round songwriter of Pop/EDM/ R'NB/Rock/Ragga/Dance-hall/ Neo-Soul/ and last but not least Rap.
