I bring groove, clarity, and musicality to every project—whether laying down solid basslines or crafting a polished mix that brings your vision to life.
Hi, I'm Gonzalo Carmelé, a professional bassist, producer, and mixing engineer with over 15 years of experience. My playing spans jazz, Latin music, pop, rock, reggae, and even classical music, having performed both as a soloist and in orchestral settings on double bass.
I studied arranging at Universidad Nacional del Litoral, and I currently tour with Canticuénticos, a band with millions of listeners worldwide, six albums released, and a strong presence on YouTube (1M+ subscribers, 800M+ views).
I can be your bass player, delivering carefully crafted bass lines with the right groove, feel, and sonic quality. My custom basses—including Fender Jazz (fretted & fretless), modern-sounding basses, and upright bass—are paired with high-end gear like API 512C preamps, Antelope Orion Studio, and professional mics to ensure top-tier recordings.
Beyond bass, I specialize in production and mixing, particularly acoustic-driven music. My workflow integrates analog warmth with modern digital precision, using a transformer summing unit, SSL-style analog bus compression, and UAD Spark plugins. I also offer professional editing and pitch correction services.

Interview with Gonzalo Carmelé
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One of my proudest projects is my work with Canticuénticos, a band that has reached millions of listeners and played a key role in Latin American children's music. As a bassist and producer, I’ve helped shape our sound across six studio albums, international tours, and a strong online presence with over 1M YouTube subscribers and 800 million views, and in Spotify with over 500k monthly listeners.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Digital is essential in modern music, offering flexibility and precision, but analog gear brings a warmth and depth that’s irreplaceable. The right balance is key.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I guarantee dedication, top-tier quality, and a commitment to making sure you’re fully satisfied with the results. I go beyond just delivering—I make sure the music reaches its full potential.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The challenge—every project is different, and I love pushing myself to find the best way to bring music to life. The constant evolution keeps things exciting.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A bass, a high-quality preamp, an audio interface, a PC… and a book to keep my mind sharp.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a DJ, then became a professional musician playing gigs and parties. I worked on cruise ships, toured internationally, recorded as a session musician, and handled executive production and administration for my band. I also have experience in arranging and academic research.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: As a bassist, I lean toward a classic, grooving feel but can go modern when needed. I can deliver busy, intricate bass lines or a precise, minimalistic approach. As a mixer, I prioritize clarity while embracing creativity and experimentation.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The best productions start with a clear vision. Taking time to plan and knowing what you’re after before hitting "record" makes the entire process more efficient and creative.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work across jazz, Latin, pop, rock, folk, reggae, and even classical. My versatility allows me to adapt to different styles while bringing my voice to the music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Going the extra mile—whether in performance, production, or mixing, I ensure every detail is right, bringing dedication and expertise to every project.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A deep sense of groove, musicality, and intention. Whether through bass lines or mixing, I focus on enhancing the feel and clarity of a track while respecting the artist’s vision.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work with a top-tier hybrid setup, combining the best of analog warmth and digital precision. My workflow takes advantage of high-end gear and plugins to shape a rich, professional sound.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I provide high-quality bass recordings with precision and groove, tailored to the song’s needs. I also work as a mixing engineer, ensuring clarity, balance, and sonic depth.
