Interview with Adrian Be
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Chicken Frier, Speakers, Microphone, Laptop and AC.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: The music was always attractive to me but comming from a humble family it was really difficult to have the tools to develop myself within the industry so I started doing shows for underage crowds when I was 17, then I managed to buy a computer and started navigating around the different tools, like producing, dj, and everything that was possible with a computer, from there I fall in love and kept pushing myself to develop every area under the entertainment industry, I specialized myself on music production, running a label, management, sound design, artistry, vocal couching and everything I could learn on the internet. Its been more than 10 years, 2 record labels, many shows, partys and festivals, music videos, and a lot of knowledge since then!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Raw and sexy
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Trust your ear not the formulas.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Urban Music, from reggaeton to r&b.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My knowledge and analisis on what the artists and the song needs is my top skill, from there I can bring production, sounds, directions and etc. But knowing what really needs its the most important skill.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Vision
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It depends, usually I get to the studio and theres people working so I try to addapt myself to their vibe and creativity mood. When the session is specifically on my production and direction I try to do a couple things before getting into the studio, like taking a walk and listen to my favourite songs or influences on what I will try to achieve in that session. But the most important process for me is letting your creativity flow and try everything non stop, pushing your creativity to the limit is the best process for me.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have 4 studio setups: 1 For all my record label SLOWLY artists, in a basement, super creative vibes with full setup, sub bass, and everything you need to feel the vibe. 2 in my other label Beatboy Records more bougee vibes in the mountain with crazy view, one is focused on creativity and the other is focused on mixing and master. 1 In my bedroom so the creativity never stops.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Travis Scott, H.E.R, SZA, Daddy Yankee, Jhay Cortez, Rauw Alejandro, Tainy, Dr Dre, Pharrell, Timbaland, The Neptunes, Chad Hugo, Bad Bunny, 2000s HipHop, Drake, Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, Nirvana, Daft Punk, etc.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Full beat production, Creative Sonic Direction, Vocal Couching and Edidtting, Artistry Consulting.
