Mixing. Mastering, and Production for a creative vintage sound. Instruments and Recording for an assortment of genres, including rock, blues, flamenco, folk, metal, jazz, hip hop, and electronica. Producer, Guitarist and Creative Supervisor of the psychedelic “free rock” band Yukon Territorial Expansion. Breadboarder supreme!

I have been recording music since I was 13. I persevered through years of trial and error to get to where I am today. I have a Bachelor's degree in Physics from CSUF where I primarily specialize in acoustics, optics, and quantum theory. With my theoretical acoustic knowledge, I have pragmatic knowledge of microphone placement, beamforming, room reflections, sound absorption, and phasing. I have extensive knowledge of all of the tools for mixing and mastering including EQ, compression/limiting, gating, deEssing, side-chaining, and dithering.

I have been playing guitar since I was 11 and I offer that instrument as a service for any session one needs. I can both electric and acoustic guitar (which includes both steel-string and nylon). I also can provide acoustic drums, percussion, electric bass guitar, Microkorg and an electric Wurlitzer organ from the 1970's that includes a built-in monophonic analog synthesizer.

I have a specific drum sound where I prefer to use fewer microphones than industry standard for a more vintage style. The sound can range from more dry and crisp, to more roomy and Zeppelin-esque depending on the room in which I record or the microphone placement needed. This drum sound can be either mono or stereo.

If you're a singer/songwriter, I can give you the sound/arrangements you need!

I can also built specific effects pedals on request!

Interview with Joshua Allgood (STS GmbH)

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I'm working on writing a solo album. I will be recording all of the instruments for it, including live drums, electric guitar, bass guitar, assorted percussion, and organ. Other than that, I'm currently recording a project that involves writing short instrumentals based on guitar pedal circuits I breadboarded and am editing a musique concrete EP.

  3. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  4. A: I would love to work with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. I understand that the band is entirely self-sufficient, but I really like their unique style and I would like to collaborate with them on a long-form piece of music.
