My focus as an Audio Engineer is in the recording process, yet I am very capable in the mixing process as well. I use advanced plug-ins from UAD, Antares, and Soundtoys to ensure that the sound quality of your project is at the highest level. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I am self-taught, started as an intern at a few studios to learn the ropes and gradually worked my way up to being an independent Audio Engineer.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: 5-6 projects with a variety of up and coming talent.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital, but analog sometimes too. Analog just has a certain feel that digital simply can't replicate at times.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Understanding when a vocal is properly sitting in a mix, such that it cuts through the low-end.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Expect a quality mix from me.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Modern.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Drake's engineer, 40, because his ears are diamonds.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't over compress!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a Quad Core Apollo Twin that I use for mixing and recording. I also use a Neumann u87 which I run through a Neve 1073 pre-amp and CL1B compressor to track vocals.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mainly vocal recording, in addition to vocal production/mixing.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Hip Hop, but I am versatile in any genre where vocals are needed.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring clarity, space, depth and width to a song.
