Brazilian afro-beat musician
Hello everybody! My name is Monica Avila and I'm an alto saxophone/flute player from Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. I've played with a variety of artists here in my town, such as Gerson King Combo, Criolo, B Negão, Doralice, Bia Ferreira, Orlando Julius, among others.
I have an afro-beat brazilian band called Abayomy together with some musicians friends of mine, and we had the pleasure and honor to record with the great drummer Tony Allen when he was here in Brazil for the last time. We also had the chance to play with Oghene Kologbo, the guitar player of Fela Kuti during the African 70 time, together with Tony.
I'm really into the afro-beat brazilian scene here, so, if you've been looking for this type of sound for your next production, I may be the right person for that. But above all, I'm a versatile type of musician and may also adapt to your sound.
