Interview with Daniel Lambert
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I primarily work on Tech House, House, and Techno, but I’m always excited to explore and experiment with different genres to bring fresh, unique perspectives to my work.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my ability to experiment with new approaches for every mix. I avoid relying on a single template, ensuring each project is unique and tailored to its specific needs, resulting in fresh and dynamic outcomes every time.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I shape the mix to emphasize its emotional essence, delivering a polished, professional sound that flows seamlessly throughout the track. When appropriate, I offer suggestions for production adjustments, incorporating my personal creative insights to enhance the final result.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I love working in the mornings when my ears are fresh, and I can fully focus on the creative process. I start by organizing and analyzing the tracks to ensure a clear direction for the mix. I take a methodical approach, balancing levels, refining EQ, and adding subtle effects to enhance the overall sound. Collaboration is key, so I stay in close communication with clients to incorporate their feedback seamlessly.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work remotely and frequently switch studios in Amsterdam to adapt to different creative environments. However, I rely on my unique techniques to ensure that every detail in the mix sounds crisp and translates perfectly across all sound systems.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I draw inspiration from music producers like Enrico Sangiuliano, JoeFaar, and Lag, who excel in creating clean, minimalistic mixes. Their approach to simplicity and clarity in production aligns with my own style and aesthetic.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I offer a comprehensive mixing and mastering package tailored to my client's needs, with delivery within 10 days or sooner for those requiring expedited service for an upcoming gig.
