Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The Netflix Show La Firma, i was an assistant engineer at the album.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Mixing an album
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Eventhough im analog is king, the quickness and the convenience of digital is massive, so for this one i will have to give the point to digital
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The mixing process and the creation of new music.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Always keep the Drums and the bass heavy!!!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Jaycen Joshua and Luis Barrera
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Organization is key, try and keep everything as organized as possible, and also understand your ear and take a break when needed.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Latin, Reggaeton, Hip Hop, Trap, Dance Hall and Afrobeat
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Overall Audio guy, Produce, Mix and Master, i usually write most of the lyrics.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: We make magic but are not magicians! lol. The recording process and sound selection is just as important as your mixing. If you send something that doesn't fit the genre you're looking for its tough to actually match it. Example: Don't send us a reggaeton track expecting to sound like jazz.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Who would you like to sound like? Or who do you NOT want to sound like? What's a song that is similar to the one you're looking to produce or mix? How do you like your vocals? Mashed, breathy, thin, Present, etc
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Talent, and knowledge of your sub-genre in the person you hire is extremely important. We feel that most mixing issues require a problem-solvers' attitude to find a creative way to get through the hurdle.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: KRK's, Laptop, Microphone and Audio Converter (Lets not forget the laptop charger, right?) Lol.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: We are a production duo, Wallz, began his career in 2001 as a Voice over producer, and DJ. In 2005 he began to produce music in the latin genres as well as EDM and hip hop. Haguar, joined the team as an intern in 2014 and quickly rose to be an official part of the team and our head songwriter and co-producer.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Our approach is very much influenced by our vibes, we get a drink, dim the lights and catch the feeling of every record before we even start thinking of what to do.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Balvin, Sech, Guaynaa, Carlos Vives. We feel we can bring a sound similar to what they do but very distinct giving them a fresh sound while keeping their essence.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Production, mixing, mastering and arrangement.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Structure, creativity, impact for your listeners, and we help highlight the feeling of the song.
