It has been a great pleasure working with Diego Sanchez. from the beginning he was aware of the entire process. he had a sincere interest in my project and knew how to put all his talent on it. he took the initiative to have a weekly conference to show his progress and ask if I am satisfied. I had no problem working with him, and he has also been very charismatic and friendly. I am 100% satisfied with his work, I highly recommend him. I am sure that I will win a great prize thanks to his effort.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both, on my DAW I use sample libraries and orchestral libraries, but I also record in a studio with analog gear, in other to capture the reality of the orchestra, sometimes I combine digital instruments with the orchestra to capture and explore amazing tones.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Composing music for a story is amazing!!! All the emotions and colors that film music can transmit are infinite.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: Some times directors, ask me to make Great music? but what is great? do you want Dark music? thriller music? what tone or color would you like? but they only say, well just great music... I always answer OK!, some times people don't know what they want, and that's when I come in, it is my job to let them know what they want.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: Sometimes directors, don't value the power of music in a film. They think music can fix a bad shooting or a bad scene.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Look for a person that listens, communication is the most important thing in this industry, and in order to communicate, have a healthy workspace and develop the best final product You'll need someone that listens and propose ideas.

  22. A: I started composing in 2018 for students' short films, and later on, in 2020 I had the opportunity to make a web series called Born and Raised series. Later on that same year I compose music for several short films that were recorded in Mexico. In 2021 My first big movie was las "jugadas del profe biojo" which was filmed on the pacific coast of Colombia. My most recent project was Queen Zee's Poetic Adventures, which is a 5 episode series that teaches kids how to make poems.

  26. A: Hans Zimmer, he is the Top film composer of the XXI century.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Music always serves the film, videogame, or tv show. It is about what the Clip needs, not what you want to put into it. Always put your ego aside and live the story that the director is trying to tell. That is how you compose a great score.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: Classical and Electroacustics

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: Composing Orchestral Scores.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: I always focus on the type of film, video game, or TV show and what it requires. To accomplish that original tone, I always answer to my self these following questions: What is the most suitable music for the visual? What does the story and the characters tell me, and how can I reflect that on the music? What is the tone and the rhythm that the film/video game/tv show needs?

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: I set up a meeting with the director (spotting session) where we watch the film for the first time. After that first watch, we discuss and propose ideas and references for the music. I always try to find an original tone for the series and create original soundscapes that narrate the characters' struggles. Later that day, I analyze the film to understand the characters and the director's vision of the story. Then, I start a cue sheet to know where the music is going to take place. now that I have a map, concepts, and a deep notion of the story, I start composing the music. We have a revision every week with the director until the deadline, and after everything is approved, I mix and master the cues and deliver the stems to the dubbing engineer.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: I have a home studio in Bogotá, Colombia.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: Jhon williams, Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone, Howard Shore, Danny Elfman, Michael Giacchino, Jhon Powell

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: Composition OTS (original sound track) for film, Series and videogames projects

  43. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  44. A: To listen, propose, and have a good relationship so that the project can flow according to dead lines.
