I am what I consider a "professional hobbyist." I learned recording techniques at South Plains Community College's associate's degree program. I have worked out of several professional studios and have several main engineer credits on independent bands. My home studio is well-equipped with gear that I know how to use effectively; while not the most high-end, I get good results.
My price reflects "pick 2/3: cheap, good, and fast." I am not fast, but I will do a good job for a small budget. I charge by track instead of hour: most tracks will take 4-10 hours of attention, with breaks to avoid ear fatigue and to test on different sound systems.
Mastering: I do "rough" mastering that seems to suit most small independent artists just fine. I am not a professional mastering studio but I have mastered in those environments and understand the techniques enough to save you money on professional work.
