Since Matchbook Romance signed to Epitaph Records, I've worked with producers Joe Barresi, John Goodmanson, Brett Gurewitz, John Naclerio, Casey Bates, Matt Squire and Ted Young. Having contributed to releases by Emarosa, Thomas Nicholas Band, Hip Hop/NYHC artist Blood Before Pride and Garrett Gardener (The Voice finalist) to name a few.
I’m confident any tone you want to recreate/achieve can be dialed in with ease with my collection of vintage and modern gear. From vintage Fenders, to modern 5 string basses, to that Warwick growl, I’ve got it all covered. Depending on the project, I’ll select from my large DI collection to bring the character and low end definition needed to bring your track to life.
All tracks will be recorded in ProTools and will include both a DI and amp tone. I love effect pedals and kinda of specialize in distorted bass tones.

Endorse Ryan KienleWe met Ryan on Warped and instantly clicked. When we asked him to track on our record in Nashville is when I truly fell in love with the guy. He’s a source of positivity, good vibes, incredible ideas.... knows when to kick it up and add tasty licks yet also when to pull it back and just sit in the pocket. He has a ton of gear and years and years of knowledge from being on the road and in the studio. He can play any genre and absolutely crush it and is always a pleasure to share a few beers with when the sessions done
I met Ryan, whilst performing as guest entertainers. He is one of the BEST musicians I have come across in my 20+ year career. We have done MANY remote sessions together. I host a monthly online variety show called "Jason O's Variatine Show", and Ryan has been a staple of the house band "the remOtes". On time, dependable, and an incredible sense of what makes music live. Whether laying down the sounds of Dee Murrays 1970's bass, or adding helping me record originals, Ryan ALWAYS adds to anything I'm working on.
Where to start! Ryan is a fantastic musician who really knows how to serve a song. I haven’t heard a genre he can’t play yet. Extremely versatile and tasteful player who will definitely make sure your tracks come to life with the attention they deserve. He also has a great ear when it comes to producing overall, and can run a hell of a session! Helped make tracking my EP much smoother when I needed him to step in as an engineer last minute as well. Not often do you find someone this qualified in so many areas! Highly recommend
Ryan is a true master of his craft. His passion for perfecting the minor details of the music he records supersedes any other studio musician I've worked with. Aside from studio work, his track record as a touring musician is remarkable, to say the least. He was a great role model for me growing up, and I'm lucky to now call him a friend. He always gives 180%!
Ryan is a journeyman musician who brings a musical intelligence to everything he plays. I have used him on numerous tracks, and no matter what genre or style he is presented with, he always delivers all of the choices. He is the rare kind of musician you can trust blindly trust to nail the take every time. He has a deep knowledge of theory and every time I tap him to play I walk away with a new insight. He is my go-to bassist in Nashville, and I would recommend him first for anyone searching for the perfect sonic foundation.
Ryan has a great feel. His tone and vibe was spot on for each track of my full length album. We had a conversation about the project before we started. He recorded everything remotely in Nashville and sent me the final comps for mixing and mastering in Los Angeles. It was a seamless process and I would definitely do it again.
I hired Ryan for my Track Time to Live and I couldn’t have been happier. He dug in and brought out what this song needed on the low end. Not to mention the bass sweeping in the verse that gave it the ultimate feel of what this songs about. He brought what was needed for the feel of this song in every way, shape and form on the bass!
Extremely solid player! Playing drums with Ryan on bass is so comfortable. He knows exactly where to be and how to play for the song!
