Manuel Andre

Songwriter, Producer, Artist

Manuel Andre on SoundBetter

In English or German! I've been writing&producing songs for many years now - as independent solo artist as well as in collaboration with other artists/writers/producers. My approach to music is that emotion and feeling always come first. I love making pop songs that are mainstream but still different. Tell me your ideas and let's make great music!

'Always remember that the reason that you initially started working was, that there was something inside yourself that you felt that, if you could manifest it in some way, you would understand more about yourself and how you co-exist with the rest of society.'
- David Bowie

I write/produce/sing songs in English and in German across all pop-genres.
I fully invest myself in every single project - because I want the outcome to be as good as possible. That's my work ethic.
Also I want you to be happy with the results. That's why I don't put a limit on revisions.

I generally like to (virtually or personally) have talk and get to know the artist im working with a little bit. I think communication is key. This also helps me to understand the vision you have for the song.

Contact me and tell me your ideas. I'm sure we can work something out.

Looking forward to hear from you!

Interview with Manuel Andre

  1. Q: What's your typical work process?

  2. A: I regularly try out new things. Usually I try to create a vibe first. That can be a lyric, a sound, a chord progression...On top of that I put the vocal melody and then I write the final lyrics while producing.

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: I'm working on an iMac Pro with Ableton Live 11 and a ton of 3rd party VST's and Plugins (Native Instruments, FabFilter, Soundtoys, Output, iZotope, Antares, Melodyne etc.) My vocals are going through a Neumann TLM102 Mic. Same with my acoustic guitar.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: At the moment I'm preparing my first releases in German language as an artist.

  7. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  8. A: Max Söllner, I know him personally and he's a great mixing and mastering engineer.

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: The mix between both. Both are great and the differences are getting smaller and smaller.

  11. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  12. A: That I'm going to make the song the best version of itself it can be

  13. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  14. A: That I can express myself and be creative. Without that I'd probably go insane.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Some people say music is purely maths. I highly disagree with that.

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Get yourself someone that's honest with you, not just someone who's telling you what you want to hear.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: A guitar and paper&pen to write can be enough to make great music

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I started taking guitar lessons when I was 7 years old. With around 10 years I started singing to what I played on the guitar, and as a 12 year old I wrote my first songs. (Btw I'm 22)

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: Mainstream but different

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: Jon Bellion, that'd be a dream coming true. This man is a genius and an inspiring artist.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Break rules every now and then.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: Pop/Indie Pop

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: That I always want to learn and get better

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: Next to my experience and musical knowledge - my personality and perspective, which probably are the two things no one else can bring to a song.

  35. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  36. A: Jon Bellion, Ryan Tedder, Benny Blanco, Ed Sheeran, Halsey, Max Martin

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: Most of the time an artist comes to me with a song idea in mind. Sometimes they already have lyrics, a demo, reference songs or something similar - sometimes we work everything out together. Basically the most common work I do is being the producer or songwriter/co-songwriter of the song.
