Composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Associated with record labels Important Records & A Strangely Isolated Place.
I’m a well studied and practiced music producer and primarily self-taught multi-instrumentalist. My work focuses on presenting multicultural sound worlds through explorative music.
I've written four albums, two of which have been released on record labels. ‘Tre Em’, released on A Strangely Isolated Place (ASIP) 2012 & ‘Issa’, Important Records 2015.
I've composed and produced scores for filmmakers Juul Van Der Laan, Matty Groves, Joel Chima and Emil Lozada, with the latter being selected for DocNYC and SXSW 2024.
I play trumpet, swarsangum and drums. My ability across these instruments informs my approach to production, creating a flexible creative environment rich in timbre and culture.
I specialise on creating scores that honour and reflect various cultures from around the world. From Nigerian influenced, rhythm-heavy scores, to dance pop music, to Indian compositions for advertising and sound art.
"...richly orchestrated, like seeds that fall on good soil and yield thirty, sixty, even a hundred times more than what was planted." ~ A Closer Listen on Issa, 2015
"The work evokes the scale of Michael Stearns compositions for film, whilst eliciting a minimalist undercurrent throughout. " - Important Records

Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm in the midst of finishing my 5th album, this one a collaborative work with author Rob Hopkins. We're due to tour and release the album in 2025. An installation work with Juul Van Der Laan has just been given the green light for it's next iteration. The work combines machine learning with philosophy and film to ask questions about modern identity in the face of rapidly evolving technology.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Trumpet, Swarsangum, Drums, Ipod, Field Recorder
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have an incredibly sensitive and well trained ear. What this means is that I'm able to clearly and swiftly hear what a piece of music needs and what it doesn't need. I'm equipped with the tools to be able to transfer this instinctive skill into practice and refine music to it's most essential and powerful parts.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm incredibly moved by the scores of Vangelis (Blade Runner), Michael Stearns (Baraka & Samsara), Oneohtrix Point Never (Uncut Gems) among many others. I find myself always inspired by the Kings and Queens of Jazz, the emotive traditional music of Japan, classical Indian music (in particular Shakti and Ravi Shankar) and a swathe of electronic music from all over the world.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I regularly do score work for short films which includes writing, recording and producing material from the ground up. I work closely with directors to elevate their vision through sensitive and empathetic sound work. My background in writing narrative driven albums is what draws lots of clients in, as my own work is very filmic in nature. My approach to authentic worldly instrumentation and production opens up possibilities for my clients they may not have considered and it's that dedication to honest affecting scores that touches those I work with.
