I worked with Chico in Brazil in the 1990s and at the time he was already a masterful groove man on both the electric and acoustic guitars. He understood really well the language of rock, funk, as well as the subtleties of Brazilian music. I was fortunate enough to reconnect with him in a recording two years ago and I was pleased to see how his talent, combined with his now vast experience, transformed him into a world class artist.
