It was a pleasure to work with Kenji great communication and such a talented producer, I sent Kenji a basic track with a vocal and he completed a masterpiece for a great price. Worth every penny spent and a 10 out of 10

Interview with Mauro "Kenji" Serra

Analog or digital and why?
Both are important and useful. It depends on the budget of the project I've been hired to work on.
What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
Try to be clearer as much as you can on what you're looking for. Communication is a big factor in the development of a product.
What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
I've started making music when I was 11 and my goal was and actually is to be a Producer, with abilities in other tasks too like composing, engineering & design.
How would you describe your style?
Based on what I REALLY like so, a mix of UK vibes (Electronic/Trip Hop) with an USA-urban attitude (90's/2000).
Which artist would you like to work with and why?
I'd say Dr.Dre for his incredible sound and approach to music; he's a really big influence for me.
What type of music do you usually work on?
I generally work with Hip Hop, Electronic & Reggae oriented music but I pretty opened to any genre, as I offer online services and I can get in touch with any kind of artist or band. Every genre has its features and characteristics and I think that the more you you know, the more you capable and compatible with anyone.
Tell us about your studio setup.
I work in different environments with possibility to use Focusrite Red 1 500, Avalon M5, Yamaha HS7, MAudio Pro Fire 610, Neuman U87, Api 2500, MAudio Axiom 61 II, Golden Age Pre 73 Mk2, Rode NT2A, Presonus 16.0.2, Adam
What's your 'promise' to your clients?
"You're going to have the product you're looking for."
Can you share one music production tip?
Create and get the feeling you generally look for when you listen to your favorite artists.
What's your typical work process?
It really depends on what I have to work on. If I have to create something from scratch, generally I create the drum beat, the bass or the keys and then all the other parts, but sometimes it happens that I create a particular melody and then I build up the complete production around it. If I have to mix, it depends on the genre, but generally I start with the drums and then I built everything around them; I think that the fact I come from an Hip Hop "perspective" really influences me in this procedure.
What are you working on at the moment?
I'm a multi-task guy and I'm working on the composition, production, editing & engineering of music albums, video-game soundtracks and audio projects like podcasts, v-logs & radios shows.
What's your strongest skill?
As Producer, it's to recognize the value/potential of a product or an artist and to work with that to achieve the best result.
What do you bring to a song?
I try to make it sound like the music I've always liked and I like to listen to, putting touches that can add to the project to the right "vibe" I'm looking for. My music influences are many and so important in the process.
What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
Definitely Dr.Dre, Mike Shinoda & Linkin Park-Fort Minor, Martin Gore & Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Juno Reactor, The Prodigy, Portishead, Focus..., David Arkenstone, The Game, Dj Quik.
Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
Generally I provide Music Production and Audio Engineering (Mixing & Mastering
What do you like most about your job?
I like that it's firstly my passion, then it's my job.
