Sara Beth Hooper on SoundBetter

Vocalist offering Background Vocals, Toplining, Melodyne Tuning, Vocal Coaching and Vocal Producing services. Notable clients of mine include George Navarro and Kyoto Lo-fi.

Professional Vocalist with extensive ensemble singing experience - My services are focused on maintaining the human and emotional qualities of your performance, while also ensuring a competitive professional result. My producing and coaching style coincides with that goal in mind, instilling the confidence and foundation necessary to achieve a sound you're happy with.

Services:
Tuning/Comping/Editing: I use Melodyne Studio 5 for tuning. I tune by ear, rather than relying on the auto functions available in most tuning software. My finished products sound correct and in tune but never sound auto-tuned.

Background Vocals: I have been singing my entire life and harmony comes second nature to me. I can write descants, counter melodies, "traditional" harmonies (stacked thirds) and non traditional/jazz harmonies. My background in ensemble performances has equipped me to provide a wide range of styles and colors -- from sparse vocal enhancements to huge, lush vocal pads.

Lead Vocals/Top-lining: Open to cowriting or fully writing a lead line for your composition.

Choral Services: I offer track editing and accompaniments for choral program performances. Combining accompaniment tracks, sound minimizing, etc.

I also do custom covers/original songs (Wedding songs, special occasions, comedic events, lullabies, etc.)

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Sara is a great musician (Vocals, guitar, piano, and probably some other instruments I don’t know about) with tons of experience with performing publicly and working in studio environments. Because of her experience she delivers a great product in a timely manner. You can check out her band Big Fan of the Bison. Once you listen, you’ll have a good idea of the quality you will be receiving. On top of that she is easy to work with and understands how to work with other professionals.

Bottom line, you’ll be grateful and happy you decided to work with Sara.

Sara Beth has the best and most tasteful ideas that will bring music to life! She brings a very extended background in music (whether it be in recording vocals, songwriting, guitar/piano, production, etc.) and a fun and collaborative attitude to each project she works on. She just knows how to make things sound BETTER!!! Her original songs are artful, meaningful, and memorable (the best combo!). Not to mention, she has a beautiful and expressive voice that would sound great on any kind of track. Hire her!!

Interview with Sara Beth Hooper

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I am especially proud of a band I am part of, called Big Fan Of The Bison. I am the lyricist/topliner for all of the songs we've released, and full song writer for many of them. I feel the songs represent me in a very sincere way, lyrically and in my vocal performance.

  3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  4. A: Honestly? That tuning is something everyone can do. Everyone can double click a tone to make it "in tune" on a tuning software, but often times that will still sound just a bit off to the human ear. I can tune everything by ear without needing a piano for reference, or relying on algorithms and auto-functions.

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: My ear, hands down. I hear things that even the most educated and talented performers don't always zero in on. It's something I'm really proud of!

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: I am most requested for tuning vocal projects - acapella pieces, solo performances, or tightening up background vocals. I am also requested frequently for tuning upright bass performances.

  9. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  10. A: I know lots of musicians working on soundbetter! Feel free to contact me for specific recommendations!

  11. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  12. A: For tuning: I promise to produce a finished work that sounds like YOU. You can be in tune, precise, and polished without losing the unique quality that your individual voice brings to the project.

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: My favorite producer is Labrinth. I'm amazed at his songwriting capabilities partnered with his outstanding production style. My favorite type of music is "progressive bluegrass" so from a musical standpoint, Chris Thile is top notch and very inspiring for me.
