Interview with Andy Zenczak [Gadgetbox]
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am commonly enlisted as a freelance producer/engineer/mixer, working with both bands and singer-songwriters to help make their studio sessions, fun, productive, efficient and creatively engaging. I also mix tracks from near and far, focusing on acoustic and electric productions in the indie folks and Alt-Americana genres. I am also hired to help other producers with vocal production, as I have a good deal of experience working with vocalists, producing both lead and backing ideas that convey moods and convey the character of the songs. Tuning, aligning and other technicalities aside, it is amazing at how many vocalists don't get a chance to work with a producer that can help guide them to capturing their best -- they're often relegated to the end of a recording process with no time or budget left to give them a chance to capture the spirit of the song.
