From straight up country to something spacey and psychodelic. From a singer/songwriter vibe to ambient sounds to god knows where. From "whats making that sound" to "ahh... I love the sound of a pedal steel".
For many years, I've contributed to a varied array of artist's recording projects both in studios and on my home rig… as well as touring the world and countless club dates. I always look for the heart and soul of a piece of music and and apply what I have to offer in the most supportive way I can. I think my list of credits attest to my ability to that.
These credits include Willie Nelson, Norah Jones, Ryan Adams, Iris Dement, Phil Lesh, Cyndi Lauper, Noel Gallagher, Shooter Jennings, Carrie Underwood, Ron Sexsmith, Joan Osborne, David Byrne, Jonathan Wilson, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Neal Casal, Jaime Wyatt, Zephaniah Ohora, Duff McKagan, Dori Freeman, M. Ward, Hugh Masterson, Amy Allison, Laura Cantrell and many others.

Endorse Jon Graboff- check_circleVerified
Incredible talent and professionalism from start to finish. I would absolutely work with Jon again in the future, and I highly recommend considering him for your next project! He is a real artist through and through.

Jon nailed exactly what I was looking for first take. Great tone, feel, and in complete service to the song. Couldn't have been an easier inspiring experience.

Real pro, great sound, creative!

Jon delivered a spectacular performance that actually brought tears to my eyes. Jon warned me to make sure I spelled out everything that I wanted him to do. I told Jon that I am of the mind set that I prefer musicians I work with to play not particularly what I want, but what they feel the song wants. Jon did exactly that, and I couldn't have hope for a better sound, a better feel or vibe. His communication was great. This guy is the real deal!

What a player! Jon played on our acoustic song (not country) and he followed ambient chords and swells around the vocal perfectl; everything he played was classy and tasteful. We plan on using everything he played. Highest recommendation. Thanks Jon, E

Jon really did a spectacular job with pedal steel on my track. The turnaround was fast and he gave me some editorial input that was much appreciated. I would definitely like to work with Jon again.

You have your chance to collaborate with one of the best pedal steel player. As a member of the cardinals, Jon worked with Willie Nelson, Norah Jones and so many others… Your song will lift to another level.

If you are looking for someone to add that special element to your project, look no further. Jon’s contribution of pedal steel completely put my album on another level. He crafted parts for 6 songs, in a matter of days. No revisions were necessary. He has an intuitive knack for tasteful and beautiful.

Working with Jon was a great pleasure for me. He is funny, intuitive and a fantastic musician. I am in Australia, and the communication was seamless. He played exactly what was required on the track.
I'll be coming back to him again to play the Pedal Steel guitar on another track soon. Thanks heaps Jon. - check_circleVerified

It was a real honour and pleasure to work with Jon! His communication was clear and straight from the get go. He is an incredible player that can intuitively get exactly the part you're after. He produces a warm and classic sound. Highly recommended.

Total professional, very upfront about everything, provided a high quality, and most important, VERY tasteful pedal steel track. Couldn't have went any smoother. I'll be using Jon as much as possible. Maybe for gigs when tours can happen.
It’s not easy to find players these days who know how to write a hook. This is one of the most important ingredients of a great song. Jon tells stories through melody and crafts mini masterpieces that stay with the listener long after the song is over. I know this to be true because all over the internet you’ll find steel players young and old showing you the parts they’ve learned that Jon crafted for my records. Few modern steel players have received the same fanfare Jon has since the days of Lloyd Green, Hal Rugg or Pete Drake. Now is your chance to work with one of the greats!
Jon’s got a lot to give and he gives all of it. In the studio,, onstage, backstage, the van, the everything-went-right nights and the everything-went-wrong ones, too, he’s the person in the room who helps you remember why you know you’re gonna wanna get up and do it all over again.
He’s super knowledgeable and uses what he knows to come up with really good ideas that have made my shows and my records sound and feel so much better.
I always know he’s there even when he’s not playing and when he does I always know how blessed I am to be nearby. Lucky me! Guess it’s your turn now.I love playing with Jon. He always performs just exactly the right part on any stringed instrument from delicious glue to soaring solos. And always in service of the song. Super important qualities for every session player but Jon excels in every way. Plus he’s a great hang.
Simply put, Jon Graboff has something that the other cats don't. I've had the good fortune of working with him in a variety of settings over the past decade--in all of which his musical input was invaluable. JG's work is creative, exciting, professional, and timely. I'm consistently blown away by his sonic and creative offerings and recommend him with the highest of confidence.
I love playing with John! From pedal steel to acoustic or electric guitar & mandolin, he plays everything with the utmost in taste & respect for the music. You’ll be happy & so will your songs/music.
The Land of Enchantment is lucky to have Jon living and recording here. I was fortunate to have Jon play on my last album, as well as on many live dates. He is a consummate professional with the skills to make any project you bring him better. And I’m the business side,, his voluminous knowledge of all genres of music coupled with his dedication to preparation means he will deliver a creative yet efficient performance in the studio. I can’t recommend him highly enough!
Easily my favorite Steel player, one of my favorite musical minds in the world! I’ve done countless albums with Jon and years of touring with him has made me a better musician! Most Steel Guitar players rely on licks from the past and rarely bring their own sound to the instrument. Jon is an “originalist” with a deep knowledge of music and always knows when to play and how to elevate a tune. And he always comes up with exactly what the song needs to carry it over. Nobody can get a better tone or write a better part.
It has been my incredible good fortune to have Jon play on all three of my albums. His sublime interpretation of my songs has helped take them to places I could only dream of. Even better, he’s a consummate pro who comes to the session prepared ,ready to work and have some fun. I can’t wait to see what he does on my next project.
I have had the pleasure and privilege of making a lot of music with Jon. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather call for guitar, pedal steel or mandolin on a session. He combines an encyclopedic knowledge of American Music with a fresh approach to every song he works on. A creative musician of the first order.
Jon is always one of the first calls when I’m getting a studio session together. Not only is he a great pedal steel player, but he’s an amazing arranger and guitarist and always makes a song better with his playing. I’ve had him on sessions with artists like Shooter Jennings, Dori Freeman, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Neal Casal, Jaime Wyatt and lots more.
No matter the style of music, Jon's steel and guitar parts are always tasteful, lyrical, and played with his whole heart! Every creator/producer he works with (myself included) is indeed fortunate to have access to his rich and diverse talents. Thanks for all of the inspiration, Jon!
