Jeff Tripoli on SoundBetter

A drummer playing for the music. The beauty is the brevity, the sound, and the performances. Jeff trims the fat with energetic and infectious grooves.

Jeff Tripoli began touring and recording music over 20 years ago with performances in hundreds of cities throughout the United States, Canada and in Europe. Jeff 's professional career spans a plethora of genres. At the root of his dynamic framework resides the passion to provide fresh rhythms and artistic perspective.

Jeff offers in his unusual manner a wide variety of original compositions while experimenting with new sonic landscapes. Personal expressions of psychedelic rhythms and musical collaborations are laid out in a pure and unfiltered form, revealing Tripoli’s deep explorations into found sounds and home made instruments.

In 2021, Jeff began studies with renowned Los Angeles based drummer and percussionist, Butch Norton (Lucinda Williams, Eels, Tracy Chapman, Fiona Apple, Rufus Wainwright). Tripoli's mentorship with Norton covers many aspects of drum set and percussion composition. Several points of focus include groove, feel, creativity, active listening skills, improvisation, recording technique and critical self awareness.

Jeff is the consummate professional but, more importantly, he is creative as hell. There are plenty of drummers and percussionist that will "get the job done" but if you are looking for someone with a keen ear for groove, texture, and unconventional sounds and approaches, then Jeff is your guy!

As someone who been in the industry for over 40 years, it’s exciting and refreshing to work with someone whose focus and commitment to the craft is both deep and broad.

Jeff has an obvious commitment to music and his communication with me was clear, timely, and thorough.

Beyond being an experienced player, Jeff is also very creative and works both inside and outside of the box to bring new textures, sounds and a great feel to the music.

He would be a great choice for anyone who wants to breathe the new life into their music or project.

Jeff Tripoli is one of the most innovative groove cats I know. He is super imaginative and is always pursuing that "extra" stuff that moves the needle from good to fantastic! He is bold and strong. He is also a great communicator and collaborator. Always helpful and honest while kind at the same time. Did I say that he's super cool? He is. I love working with this gentleman!

Jeff Tripoli’s drumming shows true mastery of rhythm and feel. Perspectives is a testament to his skill, blending complex, traditional grooves with an innovative, contemporary edge-showing his deep respect for the roots of percussion while pushing boundaries. When we collaborated on Wabi Sabi’s A Blessed Unrest, Jeff brought that same mastery to the session, effortlessly adding depth and a powerful pulse. His playing goes beyond technical ability; it’s about presence and intention, making each beat and sound a meaningful part of the music. He elevates any ensemble he’s in. Highly recommended.

“I would describe Jeff Tripoli's “Perspectives” as Percussion Ensemble Music for 2024 and beyond. Tripoli has seemed to find and write for many beautiful and unrecognized percussion sounds that we haven’t heard before. I love how Jeff mixes electronics, samples, and acoustic instruments and uses our own perspectives to frame his music. Wonderful!” - Mark Griffith
