Interview with PollyAnna
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Great lyrics and concepts.
Q: What's your typical work process?
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a singer songwriter. I think I always knew I was more of a writer than an artist but I had no one to write songs for. Later DJs asked me to write on their productions and that really kickstarted my writing career.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Séb Mont and Will Everett!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I started as a singer songwriter on guitar. As a kid I listened to punk. And now I do a lot of pop en EDM records.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I love thinking in concepts and working out lyrics. Although I do every aspect of the writing of a song that process is what I enjoy most.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a Isovox 2 vocal booth for super good sounding dry vocals. I record with a Shure SM7B because my voice is very versatile and this mic is fine with me screaming in it but also whispering softly. I work in Cubase for vocal productions and Ableton for music productions. My interface is a Universal Audio Arrow. O yeah, and I work on a MacBook Pro!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Julia Michaels, Kanye West, David Guetta, Sia
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: On a daily basis I write songs for other artists such as DJ's and pop artists. I also record my own vocals in my studio in Amsterdam.
