Cello/ arranger

Hey! I'm a very experienced orchestra musician, who has played extensively with world class orchestras such as the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the Danish Royal Orchestra. I've appeared countless times on live national television both in classical orchestra setting and in pop, rock, and folk concerts and played on many recordings of orchestra music. I was also honoured to play the solo cello part on Oh Land's collaboration with the Queen of Denmark for the show The Snow Queen.
A few years ago, I started using all that experience and the strong background in music theory and harmony I got from my amazing teachers at Juilliard to make my own arrangements (from Daft Punk to Elton John) and to contribute to arrangements of singer/ songwriters such as French artist Magali Michaut.
Although I'm specialised in classical music, I can also provide a solid cello groove to any track. In addition to playing the cello and make arrangements, I also play the challenging but extremely versatile NS Design electric 6 string cello.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! Looking forward to hear from you and and working with you on your project.

I have worked many times with Samuel on live and studio projects, in particular on my first album to be released in 2021. Samuel is a very creative and exigent professional. I know I can trust him live and in the studio to deliver. I will definitely be working with Samuel again and I can recommend him.

Interview with Samuel Künstler

  1. Q: How would you describe your style?

  2. A: I thrive for music with meaning. I try to stay away from corny or shallow stuff.

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: Honest and true always sounds good.

  5. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  6. A: Classical, folk, and jewish music.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: I'm creative and rather perfectionist.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: I'm aiming to provide emotional support or groove to a song. I also look closely at the lyrics so what I play support their meaning.

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: At first, I don't need so many words, I just need to hear a demo. I write/ play my part and send you a rough recording. If you like it, I then go to the studio to do a polished recording; otherwise I rework the rough recording until we are both happy.

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: Right now I'm using a fully equipped professional studio in Copenhagen.

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: I'm definitely a Norah Jones fan, I think Jacob Collier is an alien, and Billie Eilish is unbelievable. I'd love to sound like Giora Feidman on the cello. But really, there are so many amazing musicians out there that it's hard to be picky...

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: I write and/or play the cello part in an arrangement.
