Endorse Madsom AzevedoI was lucky and honored to work with Madson on two of my DVDs. To Listen Anywhere 1 and 2. Madson has an immense quality in his work, an attentive guy who listens a lot to his partners, precisely to deliver what the client really wants. Success for you my friend, today we are more than 15 million listeners in our work on YouTube. God bless you! 🙏🏽❤️🤠 @cantoraleticiasantos
Madsom Azevedo is a great audio mixing and mastering engineer .. I really admire his work for his talent and for the professional he is .. we have already worked on several projects together, extremely competent in what he does, attentive to every detail, every component. excellent professional !
Madsom is a talented mixing and master engineer, with a solid knowledge. His skills translate smooth between different genres, from rock to acoustic projects. I've never be disappointed with the results. I'm a bass player/keyboardist and have worked with him from many years, always learning something with this great professional.
Interview with Madsom Azevedo
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Hybrid. The digital brings lots of flexibility and speed to our daily work. It's quite easy to make recalls and it's always there saved in your DAW session. However, I really value and enjoy the extra depth and sauce that the analog world brings to our productions. Thus, most of mixes run through analog gear, e.g., pre amps and compressors in the mix bus.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The energy and emotion that I'm able to put in my songs and how they positively impact my client's business success and the people hearing to their songs.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Macbook Pro M1 Pro, UA Apollo X8, Beyerdynamic DT900 Pro X headphone, SM57 microphone and 1 Mogami Gold XLR-XLR Neutrik cable.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: On recordings, I'd use always great cables and connectors (like Mogami Gold Neutrik) because they really make a difference in the sound being captured. Lows get better and fuller and the details are richer. On mixing, I'd say that EQ filtering is key to achieve a great and clean mix with more separation for all the elements, although it's not a rule. On post production and editing, I also think that is a good practice to perform a phase rotation analysis on each source track with iZotope RX in order to get rid of unnecessary peaks that may compromise your mix final volume level.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring movement, depth, life and emotion to my mixes. Depending on the style, I go more towards a softer sound, but usually I'm well know by my clients for the punch, impact and fullness I bring to the songs.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: In my studio setup I have the Universal Audio Apollo X8 as my main audio interface, Warm Audio WA273 pre amp for mixing and also running masters thought it, as well as the Warm Audio BUS-COMP for bus compression. All the outboard gear is connected via Mogami Gold cables with Neutrik connectors for the best audio quality. My main controller is the SSL UF1, that helps me drive lots of movement in my mixes and bring even more life to them. All my gear are protected with Furman power conditioners.
