Interview with Max Blücher

Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A remix for Bannati and multiple upcoming singles.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Punctuality, high quality and a lot of detailed advice (if requested).
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: See if you produce the right music for the right mixing engineer. Also see if the communication is good and check out their work so you know what you will get.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A solar powered generator. A heat proof Laptop with Logic and Ableton software on it. A MIDI keyboard, Two HS8 Speakers, A gigantic subwoofer.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been producing since I am 14. My first tracks came out on soundcloud, I deleted a few but since 4 years I kept all of my work online so go check it out if you want to know more :)
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Trying to push the boundaries of progressive house and experimental electronic music.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: It would be my greatest honour to collaborate with Nils Hoffman and Ben Böhmer one day, maybe even with Olafur Arnalds and Paul Kalkbrenner.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Definitely: If it sounds good it is good.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Progressive house, Deep house, techno or experimental electronic music. I also work with classical music or on scores but that depends the job and client.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Being able to deal with problems fast and effectively.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Absolute focus, attention to detail and getting the most out of the song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First i'll listen to the song, critically analyse each individual element with meter plugins. Then I will gain stage the track to 0 VU. Afterwards I usually EQ, check for the phase, compress and bring colour to the track. Finally I will make your track more dynamic and place it beautifully in the perfect stereo imaging. Since I do this with 100% attention it required 2-3 turn around days for me to complete a standard mixing job.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a well treated room, HS8 Monitors, Steinberg UR44 Audio interface and Logic Pro X.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: The top three are Paul Kalkbrenner, Max Cooper and Ben Böhmer.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Normally I do mixing jobs 90% of the time.
