I write great songs and have a knack for that special lyric combined with a perfect melody, that hook. I've been writing for over 20 years, though it was fairly recently that I heard one of my songs on the radio for the first time. I want every artist to feel the way I felt when that happened.
I've done co-writes, ghost writes, licensed songs, and released my own music with some commercial success. I top-line, collaborate, or I can write an entire song based on your idea. I typically start out with a zoom call, and go from there.
I understand what it means to be an indie-artist trying to figure out how to follow your passion in a world where the artist has been devalued and it's difficult to make money, yet everything and everyone seems to nickel and dime you just to get your music out there. So I try work for a reasonable fee, and am willing to work for splits.
I pride myself on being professional, and easy to work with. A song is words & melody, most any song can be put to any genre.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Stel Furet
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Absolutely, Mike Butler (producer) and Alex May( Drums).
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Whatever is appropriate for the genre and the mood. Though personally I do lean analog.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Honesty and integrity. On time delivery.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: I'm stuck, can you help me? Do you write for TV?
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Bon Iver - I feel we've taken similar paths.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock mostly, but lately more writing more Americana and collaborating with an EDM artist.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I can write from a general idea or collaborate to improve. I have 30 years of lyrical ideas, inspirational assets and melodies I can pull from. Often a collaborator will have a small piece. I typically head down a few different of exploration depending on genre, and if time permits I like to let things sit with everyone for a few days. I work with each client to determine number of revisions based on their experience or circumstance and if it's not used I don't get paid.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A 4 song EP of my own, and some topline work for a client.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The first song I finished of my own. The first time I played the finished product for some friends I could see it in their faces. It was good, legitimately.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I create things that make people feel.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That songs should be cookie cutter and formulaic to be hits. I think modern platforms give us the ability to reach huge, diverse audiences and if you're true to yourself creatively, there are plenty of people out there that will enjoy your music.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Why are you writing this song? What was the genesis of the idea? What's your vision for instrumentation, energy, emotion?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Zoom zoom zoom-a zoom before you commit. Relationship and personality fit are everything in the creative process.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: An acoustic guitar, a piano, a lighter, a large knife, and a helicopter.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been a live performer for a couple decades. I started writing long ago and have been helping bands hone their songs. I have recently started writing for myself and collaborating online with other writers.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Laid Back, detailed, deliberate.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: When you get a vocal dialed in, snap pics of all settings on all devices, and keep a journal of as much of the studio atmosphere as you can. Makes it easier to recreate that same feel.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Helping other artists realize their vision.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Lyrical content, visualization set to appropriate melody, and stickiness.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a professionally treated studio dedicated to recording vocals and guitar. Equipment includes AU x8, x8p, various hardware compressors including LA-610's, WA-2A, Various hardware mic preamps, quality mic's from makers like WA dn Neumann. 10 or so Vintage and modern guitar amps.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Typically I co-write with musicians that have an idea they need to explore. I have been creating for over 20 years and can help move past common issues,
