Producer with 25 years of experience playing funk, r&b, jazz and pop piano. - Masters of Songwriting from NYU. - Empathy. Kindness. Grooves. Harmony. Passion. Imagination.
As someone who has used SoundBetter as a client in the past, I understand how overwhelming it can be to find the right match. As a pianist I have over 25 years of experience playing funk, r&b, jazz and pop music. I pride myself in a highly professional and dynamic sound, always ensuring my work is organized, exciting and clear. If you're looking to take your single, EP or album to the next level, I'm your guy.
I specialize in r&b, soul, funk and Top 40 pop, with lots of experience blending genre and creating a unique and compelling sound. Being a producer is so much more than just picking instruments and deciding what notes they play. It is about crafting a sound that matches the intent and vision of the individual artist and creating marriage between the music, lyric and production.
I love taking on projects big and small. Looking to release a single and want to make sure the arrangements are tight, crisp and hip - easy! Or, if you're releasing an EP or studio album and want to make sure the sound is cohesive throughout, I adore having the opportunity to assist an artist shaping their overall sound.
Happy to share a list of songs I've produced, if you're interested in hearing more examples of my work!
Let's get to work and smile while we do it!

Adam was the perfect collaborator for my first project. I was hoping to co-mix and produce with someone who would push my creative boundaries, and Adam was an ideal leader and teacher for the project. He’s an incredibly well rounded musician who will bring punch and presence to your project with plenty of patience, and has awesome engineering skills to tie it all together. Thanks Adam! Highly recommend (and go blue)!

I needed something quick AND good. I don’t think I have ever had someone complete work THAT quickly and with THAT level of professionalism before. He elevated my R&B track with some awesome synths that made the song even better than I expected it to be. Sneakers!!

Interview with Adam aka Sneakers
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: I'm often asked to produce, mix and master a song. I am a professional producer and mixing engineer but I am not a mastering engineer. In my opinion, that's like asking a pastry chef to change your tires. It requires a different set of skills and anyone who tells you they can do *everything* probably isn't doing *everything* at a radio ready quality. Knowing what I do best is part of what sets me apart. I will never claim to bring something to the table that isn't professional. I promise quality over quantity.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Key Commands are everything. Time is money for both the client and provider. I'm proud of how fast I am with key commands and the time I'm able to save so that I can spend it on enhancing the production.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Lizzo, Stevie Wonder, Chance the Rapper, Kirk Franklin, Lawrence, be steadwell, Ariana Grande
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I love working with clients with a clear vision of what they're looking to accomplish. I have a wide variety of skills but I'm happiest when I'm behind the keys bringing a new song to life. When I'm asked to produce a tune, I always start at the piano and ensure that the songwriting, harmony and melody are locked in and "radio ready" before moving onto production. With a wide variety of plug ins, multiple synths and a sharp ear, it's then my job to get the arrangement and production as tight as the song at the piano is.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Every day is a new adventure, a new sound, a new experience. I love working in a wide variety of styles and so the ability to work with some many talented artists in so many genres makes each day exciting and new.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My depth of musical and harmonic knowledge makes me an excellent partner for someone who is beginning their musical journey. Teaching is a passion of mine and any opportunity I have to grow with an artist is an opportunity worth having.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: MacBook Pro, Logic Pro X, Prophet 8, Plug In Library, Headphones and Coffee...coffee counts as gear, right?
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I work from my professional acoustically treated home studio which is set up with a Sohmer Grand Piano, Sequential Prophet 6, Nord Stage 3, 2022 M1 MacBook Pro, multiple interfaces and mics as well as an extensive plug in library with over 2,000,000 VSTs.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I love hearing references. Once I have an idea of the intent, the song will bloom.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Communicate. Don't be afraid to let go of ideas but also be clear about the things that make your artistry uniquely you.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I love working on r&b, funk and gospel but I find that contemporary pop takes such influence from those genres that when you're able to meld genres, you can create a musical sound unlike any other.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: 25 years of jazz, r&b and gospel piano gives me an incredible foundation to create harmonies that soar through your ears. I then use those same skills to make sure the song is dynamic, has flow and pulls, pushes, lifts and drops in all the right places.
