I will make your songs RADIO READY! I will mix and master your projects with the best plugins and harware that money can buy, to the highest standards, and help make your songs competitive with the rest of the market! Whether for streaming platforms, CD, vinyl, or the radio I will make your projects SHINE! I absolutely guarantee it!

Hey! My name is Matt and I am a professional audio engineer working out of NYC! I am available to remotely mix and master your music. Rock, Metal, Hip-hop, or Pop I'm YOUR GUY! Here is a little bit about me and what I can offer. Music is all I have ever known. I make my living off of engineering projects and session drumming. I've been in and around the music industry my whole life, so whatever the goal for your projects is, I can help you achieve it! I give helpful tips and solicit feedback throughout the entire project. I will involve you in the engineering process. I have a deep passion for what I do and I have been told by many clients that it shows in my work. I am also not one of those engineers who will just mix and master what you send and call it a day, my only goal is your happiness. Furthermore, there is no such thing as being picky or asking a silly question so please don't hesitate to message me or ask questions. I have been on the other side and know what it's like to make and be attached to your music. I will also include mastering with any mixing gig you purchase if you desire! I can master to any streaming (or multiple) platforms and/or CD and Vinyl standards! By default, I will master the song so that it will perform well on all streaming services. I really look forward to hearing from you and hope we can work together to get the most out of your projects!

Another kickass time working with Matt, this dude is SO easy to work with. I give him examples of sounds I'm looking for, give him like 10 minutes and he comes back with the exact sounds I was looking for.

He's on the ball and responsive all the time; even when he has technical difficulties, he gets it fixed ASAP and will give updates to all his clients.

    15 thumbs up!

This was my first time getting any project of mine mixed and wow..

Way cheaper than most others I was looking at on here and I despite that, I think his finished product is as good or even better than what other's could have given me.
Gave me all kinds of tips and tricks and advice; has a great heart and is super kind.

He's in it for the art and the artist, not to make money.

Matt mastered a 9 song demo for our band. He was extremely patient and gave me precise instructions on how to set the settings in my recording software for best quality; how to convert; and how to send him the tracks. He gave us great advice on recording settings that ensured top quality sound. Loved that Matt was very communicative. We have a Pro Demo because of his expertise and care. - Texas Miles Band (Hazel)

Matthew works hard at making sure you’re satisfied with his mix. He regularly keeps you updated on his progress with partial mixes. As a client this gives you a chance to give direction and perspective on how you want the song’s instruments to come together. His open communication and his enthusiasm for my music leads to a win-win experience.

Matt and I have worked together for some time now on multiple projects. He is a complete professional. He has worked his magic on more then a few tracks I have made. He took what I considered good and made it outstanding. His talent is only out done by his professionalism and love for the music. I have recommended him to many of my musician friends.

Outstanding. Matt is our go-to mixer on a permanent basis. He has an awesome ear. He always takes our music to the next level. Awesome communication, amazing mixes, incredible professionalism, and great communication. We are able to send Matt our tracks and explain our vision, and he takes the time to listen, understand, and translate that into top-notch mixes. Highly recommend.

Interview with Sound Lab Studios

  1. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  2. A: Do you think I should record that part again? My answer is usually if you have to ask the question you already know the answer lol... Ohhhh and How much would this cost, lol!!!! It's the truth tho!!

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: The Greatest Showman. I was on the team that engineered the project.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: 2 EP's and 3 singles.

  7. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  8. A: Don't know anyone. Ohhh maybe Jordan Baywood if he's on here.

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: Both! Why limit yourself.

  11. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  12. A: That I will work on your project as if it were my own. I'll never take the easy way out or lie to them. I really care about people and what I do.

  13. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  14. A: I love music, I'm truly blessed!

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That the engineer can just fix it during the mix! We are not Harry Potter lol.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Depends on what they need!

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Don't just assume someone is good at this because their samples are good. There are lots of so-called "engineers" on these sites who really don't have the experience or the skill set to mix professionally. Everyone is just out for a dollar and people think this work is easy. Message the person you think you would want to work with. Ask them questions to see if they are a good fit. The mix and master are essentially their own performance. Make sure they are the right fit!

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Gear is the last thing I would be worried about lol.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been doing this my whole adult life. I started as a session/touring musician for Atlantic Records and worked my way up to owning my own studio and being a full-time engineer.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Really not sure

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Warren Huart

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: The most important part of a good mix and master is a good recording and a good song. You have to get it right at the source.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: EVERYTHING lol

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I'm really easy to get along with and don't get mad easy lol. I also have a really good ear.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: 25+ years in the music industry and a deep love and passion for music. I go above and beyond for all my clients.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: hard lol...... I work all day every day pretty much.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Oh man, ALOT! I have pretty much all the major industry-standard plugins. Slate, iZotope, Softube, Waves, Plugin Alliance, Melodyne, AutoTune, etc... I also have a variety of outboard gear. Neve 1073 MIC pre/eq, Distressor Compressors, 11-76. LA-2/3A, Pultec EQ, Tape Machines, etc..... I use Logic Pro X as my main DAW.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: The work ethics of the studios, engineers, producers, and artists/bands from the 60s-80s really inspired me. Everything had to be as perfect as possible back then. Editing wasn't really a thing. They all took so much pride in what they did. I feel that's lacking today.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Typically mixing and mastering but also recording and editing.
