Are you missing the character, color, and artistic vision that your song deserves? Then you've come to the right place! With my knowledge from the Berklee College of Music and 6 years experience, ensuring your vision will come to life with vibrancy and the way you vision it is my top priority. Don't abandon your masterpiece. Let's make it a hit!
Hey! My name is Nick. I'm a 24-year-old music producer/mixing engineer who has been hard at work with several artists for about 6 years. Ensuring that the artistic vision comes to life and that my client leaves with a smile on their face. With a music production degree from Berklee, and 6 years of experience, I can provide top-notch sonic quality mixes for any genre. I have experience with FL Studio, Ableton, and Pro-Tools along with several techniques and tricks I have picked up to make a track unique in its own way.
Music has always been my passion. As a producer myself, I understood how hard it was to make my artistic vison come true. But with hard work, dedication, and discipline, I have learned to understand what needs to be done to really bring a song to life. What would that be you might ask? The mix! Having the structure of a song is a start, but how you want it to sound and how you want it to be portrayed and communicated to the listener is the key. Mixing can be one of the most difficult parts in the music production process. Mixing is it's own art. That's where I come in!
Communication, detail, and constructive criticism is what I can guarantee you. I want to give you the best experience you could have when working with me. Because what's a song without the way YOU envision it?

Interview with Nick Rannikko
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm currently working on a clients album that is releasing in the summer! There's about 12 tracks and every single one is a blast to work on!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: The true sound of analog will never be beaten with its warmth and authenticity but digital is very easy and simple to work with. Most digital VST plugins and instruments come very close to the analog sound in question so I prefer to use digital. Plus its always handy to have all your digital plugins or instruments on a USB!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To give the client the song they deserve. To make sure their art work comes to life. Communication is key to achieving a great mix so I encourage the client to speak up about what they desire, what they want fixed, and what vision they want to achieve.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Listening to all the different unique songs and art pieces. Exploring different creative ideas and being able to work on them. Everyone has such a different creative mindset and it's a blessing to hear what someone has thought of creatively.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't be shy! If you want your creative piece to be like how you imagined, let me know! Tell me everything you have imagined or envision about the piece. My job is to help and provide you with the best possible experience to make your dreams come true. And that is my guarantee!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been training myself in the art of mixing and producing for around 6+ years. Looking up videos, experimenting, tweaking and producing for my outlet. I then decided to take my talents to the Berklee College Of Music for audio engineering. And so far, I couldn't feel more blessed!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is messy yet successful and professional. I will admit that my DAW looks like a closet with all the plugins and EQ's floating around. But in the end it always feels like a true success.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Experiment, finish, and go in with no intentions! The only way to get better is to keep making and finishing new projects with no intention. Put yourself in different situations and try weird things. Let your heart do the writing and feel the music. Don't overthink anything! Let it flow!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is communicating, visualizing and understanding what the artist intends to do with their piece of art. It all relies on communication and experimenting!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Life, vibrancy, color, and most importantly, the artist's vison and intention! I make the song unique to the person who wrote it to the best of my ability.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Usually I'll listen to the clients mix and make notes about what their intention is with the song. What's the vision? What's the message? I need to get a feel for what the artistic direction is for a specific track first. After I communicate with the artist in question, I start doing my magic! Using multiple techniques and plugins to achieve the message the song is portraying.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have 2 Kali Audio LP 6 studio monitors, a Universal Audio VOLT 276, Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pros, a Shure SM7B, multiple Waves, Slate, Native Instruments, iZotope, and SoundToys plugins for mixing & mastering, and FL Studio 20 for mixing and mastering.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work I do is mixing and mastering. I do production on the side here and there but my main skill is mixing a track to sound just like the artist intended!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Amy Grace is a superb vocalist and artist. Working with her was a dream and could not have turned out any better. Highly recommend for any project you have!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: One artist I've always dreamed of working with is Post Malone. His sound is so unique and it's something I've always wanted to pick his brain about.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I wouldn't say any specific artist or producer inspires me. What inspires me is other independent artists in the world. The drive, motivation, and creative vision that are put into a track gives me real inspiration to do what I do!
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: One project that I will never forget is the Rock-Reggae EP 'Haze' I produced, mixed, and mastered for the band Twenty-Somethin. It was a different project for me and I had the best time working on it. The mix sounded fantastic overall but my favorite track had to be 'Count Your Blessings'. The groovy rhythm and bassline had me moving every time I listened to it. Getting the mix to sound crystal clear was challenging but very rewarding.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on all sorts of genres but mainly pop, rap, and indie tracks. I can mix almost everything and It always results in a beautiful sounding mix.
