I have a degree in popular music and have been working with mixing, mastering and production for about 16 years. I have an eclectic musical work that travels between varius styles like Jazz Fusion, Pop, Traditional Brazilian Music and Rock. My objective is always to help artists achieve their goals. Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I like to hear all layers in a music without muddy frequencies or cancelled. With you control your mix since the start with the correct filter and unmascaret frequencies you can have the better low end and high end. I make this way. It makes it apparent and clear what you have best in your music and how to make it appear, with respect about the arranjment and the artist's idea.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I work in a ITB (in the box) process to my mixes, I think it is better to resolve recall process, fast workflow and a infinite number of plugins in your hand. If it is necessary I use the analog mixer to warm and increase the sound before mix but later I mix in the DAW. However I the record stage, like to record with analog hardware without plugins or digital processing, and allthing stereo miking. I think that when you record the sound closer of that you play and wish, the mix process will be very fast and less invasive, the sound is almost ready since recording.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I really like Brazilian music, it's my culture and my specialty. This music is very percussive and have many layers to mix. It's ever a challenge in this job make clear several layers and sound with swing, tight and punch. But a don't have one preference, I played and recorded too many styles of the music. I like improv music like Brazilian Jazz and a sound very dynamic and interaction between musicians even a very strongh metal without any one dynamic.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I work with too many types of artists from several styles, sometimes my job is only a mix service or master, and in this cases I give support to pos-production to help them to improve the sound that I received to achieve the wish by artist, looking at your sound references and your actuation place. In another cases, some artists wish a monitoring of the process since the record to mix and master. This is the better form to adjust all sounds and record looking for the results wishing.
