Interview with Anna and Bella
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: In October 2020, we released our debut EP “Divine.” We wrote, recorded, and partly produced the 3 original songs together. We’re proud of it because it expresses our style, creativity, and a part of ourselves authentically.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: For production, we recommend SarahEmily. She provided magical added production on the 3 songs from our debut EP, “Divine.”
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: We promise to work hard to carry out our clients’ vision and contribute valuable vocals to their songs. We will put in 100% effort until our clients are fully satisfied.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: It is helpful to know how much or how little creative liberties we are able to take. Also, if our clients would rather us record vocals together on one track or with separate tracks for each vocal part.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: We are currently studying at Ryerson University based in Toronto, Canada. We are majoring in Creative Industries (BA) with a focus on the Music Industry. We will be graduates in the Class of 2024. We have grown up with a love for music and singing since we were babies, but have been taking professional vocal training since we were 10 years old.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Be ready: First takes are usually where most of the magic happens :)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: We most typically work on Pop and Singer-Songwriter genres, but have explored many different genres as well such as Indie, Alternative, Electronic, Dance, and are open to trying out new styles!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Being identical twins with identical voices, our strongest skill is the ability to match tone, vowels, and overall blend. We can also find harmonies. We are trained vocalists, taking weekly lessons since we were ten years old.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: We usually go into our studio together and can record together on one mic, or we will record the vocals separately from each other. We typically record a few takes. Then, we choose and cut the takes that we like the best. After that, we add harmonies that we can pick up by ear.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: We operate with ProTools HD Native 2020 and record on the Chandler Limited REDD Microphone. Our speakers are Neumann KH 80 DSP.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Some lesser known artists whose sounds inspire us are Isaac Dunbar, Sabrina Carpenter and Mxmtoon.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: We most commonly do background vocals, leads, demos. We can also find and sing harmonies.
