Her voice is compelling with an ease, soul and versatility. It is a smooth ascension of melody, technicality and heart. Her timing in delivery of phrases brings about such a resolute feeling of joy to the listener. Rou is an exceptional singer and artist. What I love the most about her is that she’s a musical chameleon- she can jump from jazz to avant garde to straight up pop with ease. And she always delivers!

I've been fortunate enough to record two duets with Rouhangeze. One in French and one in English. Her delivery is flawless and her technique is impeccable; but it is the emotion and honesty she manages to pour into a song that really shines through and makes it a true pleasure to listen to. (And, dare I say, I think our voices blend very well together.)

I've worked with Rou on various projects for the past 4 yrs in the studio and remotely. Her versatility and speed are astonishing. Her vast experience allows her to record and write under pressure to deliver astonishing performances. The tone of her voice has many colours which enriches every song adding the sound/feel that corresponds with what I needed. Her understanding of harmony and the piano allows her to build stunning backing vocals arrangements. Being a polymath and multilingual she also writes stunning lyrics. Working with her is stress free, professional and fun!

Interview with Rouhangeze

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Between 2016 - 2020, I lent my voice and image to German pioneers Steinberg Media Technologies GmBH, specializing in equipment for recording, arranging and editing music, for a digital audio workstation. 9. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  10. A: I am always doing recording sessions for clients - multi genre and various styles - at my home studio or at recording studios in London. My album “evasio” planned to be released in 2021 in France at the exhibition "Tales around the world" by Rouhangeze and the visual photographer Nicolas Henry. An image will be associated with each of the songs, and the whole will form a fresco around crossbreeding, tolerance, and a reading of the story confronting points of view. On this album, I invite, collaborate and develop my compositions with some of the world’s best namely Tabla player Aref Durvesh, multi award winning guitarist Antonio Forcione, bass virtuoso and music prodigy Linley Marthe, Percussionist singer songwriter and pioneer of the Sega Menwar, percussionist Kersley Sham, Pianist Composer Tomasz Bura, multi award winning producer, multi-instrumentalist guitarist songwriter Eric Appapoulay and visionary percussionist Bernhard Schimpelsberger; exploring the traditional rhythms of the Sega that I sing in my mother tongue, Mauritian Creole. My compositions are basked in the colours of Africa and India influenced by my love of Jazz and the marriage between electronic and organic sounds.
