Hi, my name is Victoria May and I'm a singer/song-writer from England, now based in Argentina. I've been doing music for many years, writing and singing my own songs. I've always had a strong passion for writing music and I feel I can really connect with other people's emotions and put them into words. I really look forward to working with you :)
- Send me a demo of your song and I will write the lyrics
or
- I will write the song from scratch using guitar or piano as the base
I mostly write pop songs but I love taking inspiration from many other genres.
- I can also traduce your song from Spanish to English or vice versa
This is how I work:
- click 'contact' to get in touch with me
- once we agree to carry out the project I will start working on the song. It takes me about 2 weeks to send the first demo (if needed, we can negotiate a shorter deadline)
- two free revisions are provided
- royalties percentage can be negotiated (the % depends on how much work I put into the project)
Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or special requests. I look forward to helping your creative project take shape!

Victoria is amazing to work with! She delivered an incredibly powerful topline for my track and is very professional. She was very receptive to any little changes I requested along the way and I’m really happy with the end result!
She is really awesome, and I've worked with her on multiple projects. She writes unique and powerful lyrics and sings them beautifully too. I'd work with her again :)
I've worked with Victoria in a past project and she was very easy to work with, very attentive to details. She has a beautiful style.
Interview with Victoria May
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I am especially proud of 'The Way I Do', a song that I've composed and sung. It's my most vulnerable song as it talks about my relationship with my body.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on my own songs to release as a solo artist. I'm mixing Spanish with English which can be a bit challenging but very fun.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I would recommend working with Kat C. She is an amazing producer which I've had the pleasure to work with on various projects.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I feel like analog has a much more beautiful and warm sound but I personally work more with digital as it's more accessible.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is to take into account every detail and request from my client to the song and mixing that with my personal style. I like the ending result to be something we are both happy with.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The creativity process and writing a song that lives up to the clients standards.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: The most frequently asked question is if I'm willing to write a song from scratch and I always gladly say yes. It's one of my most favourite projects to work on.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception for me, personally, is that songwriters can't write unless they're inspired. Writing music comes naturally and isn't some sort of inspiration that comes from somewhere and I have to wait for it to come. That's the beauty of writing music, it comes with practice and repetition.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask them the duration of the project, what general feelings they want the song to be about, if they have any specific details they would like me to include, if they would prefer a studio recording of the vocals and if the price fits their budget.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: When a costumer sends their job request, it is always useful to give the provider as much information as possible. That way, when the provider starts with the project, they take into account every small detail that the client has previously asked for.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My microphone, my computer, my iD14, my hummingbird and probably a midi keyboard.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been singing for the last 10 years and songwriting for the last 7/8. I've been to various different professionals that have helped me develop my musical skills.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is usually very heartfelt and romantic. I enjoy including sensual lyrics and melodies if the song requires it. I also love writing more melancholic sad pop songs as it helps me vent my feelings.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Stevie Wonder. I feel like he has so much knowledge in music and he captures emotions so well in his songs. I truly admire him and feel like I could learn a lot from him.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Always record in a space where sound is treated or where there is lots of furniture and curtains. The ending results for the vocals sound so much better.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually do pop and R&B. I also enjoy folk, acoustic music, funk, Lo-Fi including other genres that I would be happy to investigate more on if a project requires it.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Song-writing and singing
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I pay close attention to the lyrics and enjoy expressing the feelings that my client wants me to capture. I care very much about their ideas as I can bring them to the song using different melodies and lyrics. I come up with many melodic ideas so if my client is not convinced with a part I can gladly re-write the melody.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually listen to the instrumental base a few times to figure out the structure of the song and start coming up with different melody ideas and lyrics. I usually record it in Logic during the process and write down the lyrics. Once I'm happy with the results I do a general recording of the song and send it to the client. If the client is happy and has previously asked me to send them vocals, I re-record the vocals and pay closer attention to the details. Two free revisions are provided.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have recently set up my own home studio. It has sound treatment including acoustic panels, curtains and dual-pane glass windows. I own a AKG c214 microphone, an iD14 and a Macbook Pro (I use Logic Pro X). I also own a Roland 2000, a Gibson HummingBird Custom Koa and a Martin OM-28 Marquis.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I have a long list of musicians that inspire me, but to mention a few: Stevie Wonder, Victoria Monét, Rosalía, Ariana Grande, Mac Miller and Michael Jackson.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My most common type of work is writing a song using an instrumental base that the client sends me. I can also write songs from scratch. This would include melody and lyrics for both options.
