Interview with Dodo

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: I would like notes and sound recordings, if any, for instrument recordings. For the arrangements, I would like 3 samples of songs that were made close to the sound they want to be and if any, instrument preferences.

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: Computer, sound card, midi keyboard, microphone, acoustic guitar

  5. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  6. A: I've been arranging for 10 years, but I've been a professional producer for 1 year.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: Natural World Music

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Instrument choices that reflect the feeling of the song and my own interpretation, melodic and rhythmic structures, mixing mentality according to the period or emotion factor.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: Pop, Oriental, Blues, Rock, Soundtracks

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: I study well for my lesson.

  15. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  16. A: I worked on Turkish Folk Music in the East, Turkish Classical Music, Flamenco, Arab Music, Rock in the West, Blues, Pop, Funk, Reggea, Classical and Soul styles. I have a style of mine that is a synthesis of East and West.

  17. Q: What's your typical work process?

  18. A: I first take my notes while recording the instrument and prepare the room for recording. In preparation, I warm my fingers. Then I start the registration process. In the arrangements, I first outline the song and share it with my client. After agreeing with my client, I study the detail and finish the arrangement. This process takes 1 week. Then I start recording the instrument. This process also takes 1 week. Then I send the project to my friend for the mix-mastering. This process takes 2-3 days. And I deliver the song.
