Matthew William Long (born June 15, 1988), better known by his stage name Matt Solo, is an American rapper, songwriter, and recording artist from Chattanooga, Tennessee. He began rapping at the age of 12, writing by 13, and in pursuit of a dream by 15 releasing his first project "Both $ides of Tha Dollar." While the album didn't garner any attention from majors, it propelled him to local "emcee status" within his hometown and even in surrounding areas. From 2004 to present day Solo has since released several different projects via DatPiff and Soundcloud, and also has an impeccable Battle Rap record. 1/3 of Atlas Studios- a collective formed with life long friends Demetrius Pearson or "D.R.P." & Colton "Hiro" Bonine. No stranger to performing, and capable of hyping crowds to extreme pandemonium solo is truly one of a kind in hip hop. From tongue twisting to story telling solo has truly harnessed his "own sound" in this game. His mother owned a huge collections of 45's and 16 inch vinyls from some of the greatest artists from the 60's up to the 80's (Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye) Solo has mentioned that's the source of his true inspiration, and also alot of the "jazzy, bluesy" feel behind majority of his work.
