Top quality mixing engineer, highly experienced in genres such as pop punk, hardcore, rock, and pop. Big, modern, impactful, polished sound.
Hi!
I'm Agustín Pugh, a producer and mix engineer from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Working professionally for 6 years now, I'm also a mastering engineer, audio editor, musician, and founder of my studio, Estudio Dookie
I find great inspiration from artists like Green Day, Blink 182, State Champs, Silverstein, Bring Me The Horizon, Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber, Charlie Puth, and also producers like Zakk Cervini, Sam Guaiana, Chris Lord Alge, Tom Lord Alge, Serban Ghenea, and Manny Marroquin.
To me, mixing is about enhancing emotions and creating excitement.
I define my sound as big, modern, and polished with lots of impact, but I'm happy to explore different vibes for the artist. My goal is to help the song reach its full potential while translating the artist's vision as purely as possible. For this reason, I put 100% into everything I do, no matter how big or small the project.

Agustin was incredible to work with! He was fast, communicated well, and took an interest in our music. We absolutely loved the master he made for us on the first try. It's a safe bet we'll be reaching out to him again in the future.

Fantastic, so happy with the result!

For this track, we aimed for a more stripped down style of production. I was very pleased with how Agustín placed the arrangement throughout the mix and how this amplified the emotional aspect of the music. Thank you for such beautiful work and overall sensitivity.

For this track, we tried something completely new and Agustín delivered, as always, an excellent work producing and mixing "El Cielo". Truly amazing. Thank you!

When we started writing for a future House Lights release, I immediately thought of Agustin again as he was such a pleasure to work with throughout the creation of our first album. Needless to say - Agustin killed it with this most recent mix. He achieves such a rich full sound with ultimate clarity that few can. Highly recommend using his services for any genre music, and we will continue to utilize his skills!

Recomiendo 100%. Muchas gracias Agus!!
Interview with Agustín Pugh
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Tuve Suficiente - Reicaiga They had a very bare-bones demo that needed a lot of work and an extremely low budget, but we had a pretty clear vision of how it needed to sound. So I did most of the production myself, recorded all the guitars and bass, hired a session drummer, get them to re-record the vocals, and did all the editing, mixing, and mastering. The result was pretty epic and they loved it!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Just finished mixing the new House Lights album, and started producing new songs for Santa García
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Pablo Alvarez Vilariño, best bass guitar player I know and a joy to work with!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: The sound that is in my head, I'll get there anyway. I just work faster and more efficiently in Digital.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I will always be going to do my best for them.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Hearing the clients get happy and excited about the song is the best.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Q: How the hell did you do that?! A: The song is great!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That we make everything sound poppy and steal money from our clients.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your vision? What do you wanna say to the world? What sounds do you like?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Try to make a connection with someone who respects you, understands your vision, and is willing to grow with you.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop and a pair of headphones it's all I really need.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been surrounded by music and art since I was a child, I play piano and guitar. I started studying music back in 2016, then discovered the world of production and mixing, and fell in love with it. I graduated as a Music Producer/Musician from EMC (Berklee Affiliate). I've been doing this professionally for 5 years now.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I love emotional music that makes a statement.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I'd love to work with an artist with a fresh, clear vision that brings something new to the industry. Maybe that is you ;)
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Work fast, don't overthink and rest in between sessions. Reference with the best artists.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work with a lot of different genres: punk, indie rock, pop, and pop punk. I love music with dense instrumentation and - in your face - vocals.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Making the song tell a story.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Clarity, energy, impact.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: If I'm going to mix, I first start by doing my prep. Create a session and keep it very organized, so that when it's time to mix, I can move fast and efficiently. I found that the less I "think", the more exciting the output. Also, it is extremely important to listen to the song, understand the vibe, and have a clear vision before moving any faders.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a pretty minimalist setup: Near-field monitors, headphones, an audio interface, and a couple of mics and instruments ready to go. For me, it's about maintaining an efficient and focused workflow.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I find great inspiration from artists like Green Day, Blink 182, State Champs, Silverstein, Bring Me The Horizon, Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber, Charlie Puth, and also producers like Zakk Cervini, Sam Guaiana, Chris Lord Alge, Tom Lord Alge, Serban Ghenea, and Manny Marroquin.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing.
