Andi was a pleasure to work with! She immediately got exactly what I was going for and was very responsive when it came to communicating back and forth. Her turnaround time was quick and her final product was flawless! Her vocals really added a new level of quality and character to my track, and I'm looking forward to working with her again soon!
Have known Andi for many years, through many shows and many sessions. Joyful, funny and fabulous. The only downside is that she's so enjoyable to work with that we usually end up laughing throughout!
I loved working with Andi. I created and directed several shows for a cruise ship company and Andi was in one of my casts. I found her a delight to work with, showing great talent, commitment and versatility; always a professional and giving her all. Over the years as she has branched out, I'm sure she continues to bring that attitude to all of her work. And, she'll make you laugh!
Every style of music that I have thrown at Andi she knocks out of the park. She is so flexible to work with and always open to try new things. She has such amazing control over her voice that she can change her tone on a dime to meet the requirements of the song. Always a pleasure to work with her!
Andi has a gorgeous and powerful voice! I have hired her before and would do so again. She has great pitch and reads music well, too.
Andi is a consummate professional. Anything I've asked her to sing, she has knocked out of the park - I'm am always amazed by her versatility, professionalism, and down-to-earth attitude. You can't go wrong with Andi!
A super talented singer with a great variety of vocal colors and styles. Her range is amazing!
Interview with Andi Gibson
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Versatility and emotion. As an actress I have a full range that I can bring character-wise to a song in addition to whatever type of sound the client needs.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I'm a voiceover professional as well so I have a Neumann TLM 103 mic, apogee duet pre-amp, and run that through twisted wave into my MacBook Pro. My husband is a composer so if something is needed in Protools or Logic Pro I can record in his studio on his Miktek CV4 condenser.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Billie Eillish, Aretha Franklin, India Arie, Tori Amos
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Thundercats roar because it's so fun, balls to the wall and people are shocked that I actually sang it that fast and that high lol
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: singing some demos for a client in Canada that I've been working with for a while. We've done Netflix shows, live production demos, all kinds of stuff!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: no
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: digital, it's what I know and I'm not the most tech savvy lol
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To be fast, efficient and easy to work with
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: It's freeing
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What style to you sing? Whatever pays the bills.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That someone can pay $100 and think they own that piece of music to use however and for as long as they like. There are contracts and usage agreements for those things.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How will you be using this/ what is this for? What is your budget? what kind of sound are you looking for? do you have audio references?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be honest and clear with your needs and I will give you the same in return. If it's something I can't do or a budget I'm not comfortable with I will let you know, I don't want my time wasted and in turn don't want to waste anyone else's time either. I think it's about professionalism and mutual respect.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My mic, my laptop, my earbuds, my pre-amp and my harddrive
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I was first in the recording studio professionally at age 7 singing a theme song for a cartoon that never got made. Just a year ago I sang on the theme song for the new ThunderCats Roar on Cartoon Network, funny how things come full circle. I've been singing the whole time, but excited to finally complete that goal that started so long ago.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: truly depends on the day, I'm not a songwriter so I speak the language given to me
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: so many!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Listen closely to what the client wants and give them that any way you can.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I always joke that I sing whatever pays the bills lol I enjoy flexing my vocal muscles in all styles of music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Taking direction. I'm good with communication so if you want something different just let me know and I'll give you that.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I review all my materials, listen to whatever I need to and jump right into work!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I sing whatever they need and send them back the files. I can turnaround vocals in less than 24 hours.
