Interview with Adam Denoth
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Tony MacAlpine, Marty Friedman, John 5, Jeff Loomis, Blues Saraceno, Marzi Montazeri, Van Halen, Guthrie Govan, Andy Timmons, Jimi Hendrix, Buckethead, Per Nillson, Tosin Abasi, Greg Howe, Jason Becker, Marco Minnemann, Mike Portnoy, Neil Peart.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Everything is recorded at Matherne Studios, which is located just outside of Houston, Tx. Apollo, Studio one, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Focusrite, Shure mics, Sennheiser mics, Mogami cables, Fender Amps, EVH 5150 III, Marshall cabs, Shroeder cabs, Ibanez guitars, Yamaha drums, Tama drums, Zildjian cymbals, Paiste cymbal.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure they have good gear and plenty of recording experience. Ask for references and/or samples.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I say both, analog for the sound. With today's technology, digital makes it much easier to record and send out for mixing, mastering and duplication.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: An Ibanez guitar, a .88mm Dunlop Tortex Wedge pick, drumsticks, cowbell and a piano. If there is power or a generator, that creates a different list of gear =)
