Making artists happy since 2012
I am Panos the owner of Noisyland Recordings
I am a Music Producer and Audio Engineer with a taste in good sound.
I worked for many years as a freelance Audio Engineer in both live shows and studios before creating Noisyland Recordings studio. A studio designed for acoustic performance, with the best hardware and software for music creation and production. Since we opened doors I recorded mixed and mastered many projects for both music and TV.

Interview with Panos Papakostas
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: We are talking about music so... EVERYTHING.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: 1. Recording Process 2. What they want from the mix 2. Deadlines
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be honest. That's the best starting point for every relationship. if you feel that the song lacks something let me know it in advance. I'm not here to judge you. I am here to help you.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A U87 and the SM57 the LA610 preamp with the LA2A compression a Soundcard and a pair of speakers.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I am in the audio industry for about 16 years now. I enjoyed all those years because I work with people who share the same passion. It was a bumpy road but at the end of the day, you make your living by making music and that's wonderful.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Open - Wide - Crisp and full of sound.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I really like open-minded artists with vision and taste in music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Sure! If you record at home Record with a Dynamic rather than a cheap Condenser. Can really help you with rooms with poor acoustics, sibilant Singers and noises around the room. Sometimes singers feel more secure when they hold the mic and performance is everything. You can't fix that.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: It used to be a lot of pop and pop rock but nowadays a lot of projects that I work comes from different styles like hip-hop trap and even Latin sometimes. Streaming crossed -platformed many genres and artists influence these days from anything and anywhere.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I can adapt. I listen to a lot of music and that gives me the flexibility to understand the song. People start moving faders those days because they can. I want to be sure that not just the quality of the song is great but also that I translated the artist's vision perfectly.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Movement and Excitement. Not only as a technician but also as a music lover I want to make a song powerful and memorable. I want to make a song special. To have that " Something". And this is the reason that a spent time to be familiar with the song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First I have to be sure that there is nothing to distract me from the mixing. So I listen carefully to all the audio files I edited them, tuned and tempo fixed them if necessary and talk to the artist if something else needs to be done before starting mixing. Then I listen to the track several times to find the key elements and be more familiar with the song structure I import my template and start mixing.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Noisyland Recordings is acoustically designed from the ground up to ensure the best possible sound in booth recording and mixing/mastering. I design through the years an efficiency template that incorporates the analogue gear that we are having in the studio with all these amazing plugins for a great sound result.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: First of all, I'm trying to understand the artist's vision. My responsibility is to bring the best out of a song. From producing a song to mixing and mastering I am providing my skills to ensure that the final product is something that the artist feels proud of.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To make them happy. They will have a song that can feel proud about.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: The main question these days is about the price. My honest answer to that...depends! Projects and songs are different from each other so I try to validate every situation properly.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Well, I always admire great musicians. Not only the virtuosos but you know... people who give their hearts and souls at it.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. The cons from analog are the Pros on digital and vice versa.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That everything can be fixed in the mix. The don't. And if they do song become soulless.
