Co founder of indie band The Posies, long term collaborator with R.E.M., Ken Stringfellow has a been a fixture on the music scene indie and otherwise for over 30 years. In addition to quickly earning a reputation as a solid and flexible session player in the Seattle scene while still in his teens, Ken soon graduated to bigger projects -- being a part of the reformation of Memphis icons Big Star, co-producing and playing on SoCal punk band Lagwagon's biggest album, and touring the world and participating in albums and film soundtracks with R.E.M., one of the most important bands of all time. Diversifying his portfolio by learning the art of recording in analog and digital studios, Ken has worked with a vast and diverse list of artists from around the world -- Thom Yorke, Damien Jurado, Snow Patrol, actress Carice Van Houten, Mercury Rev, Nada Surf, Chinese folk rock group Hanggai, Seattle indie rockers The Long Winters, indie folk songwriter Jill Sobule -- they and dozens of others have sought Ken's unique talents as producer, mixer, multi-instrumentalist and lead/background vocalist. He's also done film scores, string and horn arrangements, even shot an album cover as a photographer. Far from being just another generic technician, Ken brings depth, originality and a relentless commitment to excellence to every project, large or small, he works on.
