My work has been featured in Second City shows in Chicago, podcasts and internet radio. I have an ear for fun melodies and vocal parts and I say things differently, making unique connections between ideas resulting in memorable song experiences. I have a quirky sense of humor and love word play.

Another excellent collaboration with Cora! She is so incredibly deft at starting out with a 100% focus on delivering exactly what’s in my mind, but is also extremely generous with her opinion when I push her for it. And I do, because Cora has an excellent ear and sense of putting a song together!

This was an extraordinary process. Cora made it very clear that her number one mission was to realize my vision for the song, but was extremely collaborative and creative when I sought her insights.
I gave Cora music & lyrics but no melody. She crafted a gorgeous melody that elevated a simple concept into something so gorgeous and rich. In a few short days she developed such insight and opened up new layers to a song I thought I knew so well.
Working with Cora was a pleasure. Her song writing/top-lining was right on the money and professional. She supplied pro quality vocals stems with doubles and BGV's.
Cora is such an awesome songwriter. The way she writes really makes the listener feel those emotions. Her writing is so powerful.
Interview with Moon Lily Productions
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: A client asked me to topline their song. They had lyrics but no melody. I listened to the song and connected with the vibe. It reminded me of Phoebe Bridgers or Elliot Smith so I took that breathy, dreamy approach to the melody and delivery. They really liked it. It was different than what they were thinking but preferred what I did. They said they saw their song in a whole new light which was cool. I'm glad I could help them.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm toplining songs destined for Kpop. I'm also producing songs as an artist.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on a lot of "hyphen" genres: folk-pop, folk-rock, acoustic pop.My voice has been compared to Phoebe Bridgers and Kacey Musgraves and has been popular in indie alternative projects. If someone wants something to be heavily influenced by a genre, I can bring in that style.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is helping people say what they want to say and how they feel. I help them create the song they've wanted to hear.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a home studio that includes Logix Pro X, Slate Digital products including the VMS ML-1 which includes an amazing mic locker, Scarlett Focusrite interface.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Kris Bradley of BoomFox Productions. She's my mentor and amazing.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. It gives you time and you can take as many takes as you need/want.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to give 110% to your project, to keep communicating through the process, and always make the deadline.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the magic of creating something, collaborating and connecting with someone's vision to help them create what they hear in their head.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: They ask about turnaround and price. Prices are above. Turnaround varies, but it's usually never longer than a week and I always make the deadline we've decided upon.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Artists are flakey and challenging to deal with. I pride myself on communication and listening.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually ask what artists or songs inspired the song they're asking me to work on.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Give artist or song examples if you can. It helps guide the direction.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: I would take my laptop with Logic, my mic, my interface, midi controller and my acoustic guitar.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've toplined and written lyrics for composers and music directors since 2010. I've been singing for 5 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style has been described as a girls night out with Kacey Musgraves and Joni Mitchell, fun and uplifting.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to work with Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench. I love his vocals, writing and production style and think it would really be fun. I'd also like to topline Kpop. It's one of my favorite genres. It has so much going on sonically and helps me shift my energy.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: You have time. Breath. One of the great things about digital and recording at home is we can do several takes.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring optimism, a quirky sense of humor, and different way of seeing things. I love making connections and creating unique metaphors. I bring patience and create space for an idea to come out and develop.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I listen to the client, asking them what songs or artists they like, were inspired by or what sound/vibe they're looking for. I listen to the track and see how it makes me feel. I write an intuitive take with the client's inspiration in mind and fine tune until it's what the client wants.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: There are so many from so many genres, but I really like Elliott Smith, Phoebe Bridgers, and Josh Ramsay.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My most common work for clients is listening to what they want, what they're looking for and creating a unique melody or topline for them.
