Interview with Eternal Studio
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I'm good at knowing how particular genre should sound and why. I spent a lot of years playing different genres of metal and recording a lot. But the most important thing is - I have a good taste in music. So the performer will be satisfied.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm proud of my work with MISTYFICA, BLESSDIVINE and SORROWFUL LAND. I did all the recordings, played guitars, bass, keys, etc. Did mixing and mastering. I'm very happy and proud of how it turned out!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on tho albums at the moment. First - a debut album of power metal band BLESSDIVINE. Second - a debut album of symphonic metal band MISTYFICA.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Me
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital all the way. With a little touch of analog of course. Nowadays you don't need to but expensive gear to get good sounding mixes.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Satisfaction
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Variety. You'll never gonna have two mixes that sound the same.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How much time does it take to mix one song? Well, it depends on songth's length and complexity and how good is the whole recording. Maximum is 2 days for the first song in the album or EP.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Some think that there is a magic button called "MAKE MIX GREAT". There is no such thing. You must work hard for the greater good and results! Singers must hit the right notes in a right time, guitarists must know their parts as well, bassists...they just need to show up :) Drummers gonna drum.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What does "good sound" mean for you, your favorite bands and songs that you can call "perfect mix"
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Just follow the links I provided and listen to my portfolio. You're gonna like it!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 1) One of my guitars, it would be Gibson Explorer Natural 1992 2) A cabel for guitar obviously 3) A guitar pick 4) My PC with all the plugins I need 5) Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 sound card Now I'm all set-up for recording!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been playing in metal bands since 2000s, recorded and released about 10 albums and EPs with my bands. I've been doing mixing and mastering for several years now.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Fast 'n furious yet dedicated and delicate
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Powerwolf - kings of modern power metal. Like their music and style a lot! Kamelot. Do I need to say more? One of the greatest bands ever. Draconian - my colleagues in doom genre. LOve their stuff as well.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't try to make the loudest mix on Earth, haha! Loudness war is over! Live with it :)
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Metal in all it's variations. But my specialization would be in more specific stuff such as: power metal, symphonic metal, thrash metal, death metal, doom metal.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Artist's personality must shine through the polished sound. I help to bring the performer's ideas to the top.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First of all I organize tracks in particular order, create sub-folders, choose different colors depending on track types and then start aligning tracks if they need to be aligned. Check if everything is in tune and sound clean and neat. If so - I start mixing
